New York State Gun Control - Passed!

Drummer 101 said "Does this affect police forces or are they not affected by these laws?"

A good question. Governor Cuomo said that no one needs 10 rounds to kill. So the police don't need 17 rounds to kill. If no one needs 10 rounds to kill, then the police should be restricted to 7 rounds as well.

I'm seriously concerned about this legislation because it affects my S&W 41 22 target pistol that I use for target shooting at my range every week. And what about my S&W 10 shot 617 revolver? Guess that is exempt.

Ultimate Goal

Incremental lowering of magazine capacity will continue until these clowns reach their ultimate goal: ZERO. They have an insatiable uncompromising agenda from which we cannot back down, ever.

People sometimes tend to be a product of their environment. Propaganda works, always has, always will on a segment of the population. People are affected by what they see. Why else are the millions spent on visual effects in entertainment? Why are their advertisements that seem stupid to some yet millions are spent on them? How else did a loser get re-elected? It is not a loss of freedom to remove the manipulation of the mind by cleaning up the entertainment industry. It is a return to a normalcy of time gone past. Sorry if morality is not in some list of ideals of freedom, but decadence has always destroyed civilizations. Study the history of civilizations and see what traits were present as they unwound themselves. If we need to moderate our stimulated needs for the young, then it should be done in a healthy way.

Well every year we go upstate and visit family and this past summer almost every yard had an Obama sign. I cannot believe these people keep voting in these idiots and then complain when things turn south. Now they are fighting Fracking even though it has been proven beyond a doubt to be safe and will reduce our dependence on foreign oil & gas (guess they like $4-5.00 gas/diesel prices too). Not a problem though when you are getting subsidized for fuel and electricity from the state, food stamps, section 8 housing, rent control, free medical & health care & I could go on and on. Sorry for the rand but after 73 years it just pi$$es me off to see the country go down in flames Navy vet, ret state police

38 other senators were not present for a vote held with 20 minutes notice, no debate and at night.
That's what's an honest to God loophole.
A system that has the ability to ram through whatever it wants if the conditions are right isn't what makes a good strong goverment.
Sooner or later, someone is going to manage to exploit one of these "loopholes" with a piece of garbage legislation that brings the whole house down.

Anyone else have any info on this? I read most of the law yesterday and didn't see revolvers addressed anywhere. Just magazines.

I have the same concern.

Maybe enough people will leave NY and other socialist states that it will take a few of their congressmen away and transfer those spots to other states.

Better that the fine citizens of New York choose to stay...and summarily vote the treasonous bums out of office.

Unfortunately elections have consequences and the gun law just passed in NY (and soon across the rest of the NE) proves it. I wonder how many on this forum (from NY) voted for the present mayor, governor, (even president), and the state senators and congressmen, who voted to enact this abomination of people's right to defend themselves. Looking from the outside in I'm not sure the courts will be your salvation. E.G. the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to uphold Obamacare. The truth of the matter is the courts will uphold if they agree fundamentally with the law. They may throw out a few minor points of the law as a token to the masses but don't bet on it. The answer is at the ballot box at the ground level when the parties are selecting candidates to run for office. If you truly want change that is where you have to change it. That is where you need to ask the tough questions on things like the 2nd Amendment, state's rights, the role of the judiciary, etc. I feel for you folks in NY, you have a tough road ahead. Where I live we have some of the same problems but not to the depth and extent of your state. Liberalism is a social disease that will literally take generations to root out given its level of entrenchment in our schools and political system. I hope I live to see the day when we actually start putting liberalism on the run instead of just defending ourselves from it.

This is the bottom line here folks. Don't whine and complain and become an activist AFTER your rights are stripped away... Take action BEFORE!

Not going to happen here. We have passed the tipping point and the morons here would vote for nice weather if they thought the minority of us working could pay to make it happen.

Not good for gun owners. The ironic think is in the uk there is no mag restriction. I have 19 round mags for my CZ and and can buy high capacity mags if i want.

Aren't the gun laws in Northern Ireland very different, and less restrictive than the gun laws in the rest of the UK?

What will this do to the already drained coffers of NYS when they see a dismal "Non-Resident Hunting Licenses" rate of sale for the 2013 hunting season???

I know there has to be many Americans who will fearfully, and rightfully so, avoid the state they love to hunt in...

I was born (1951) and raised in NY state.

It was a nice place to grow up.

At around age 18 I became politically aware.

After my military service ended (1974 ) I began to notice a
downward trend.

Short story - after my kids left home I moved (2005) to PA.

Life is good here.

God help those of you I left behind................:(

"Also, considering only NY has this ban"

It would be wishful thinking that only NY will enact this ban and it will go no further. Let's see what Obama comes out with shortly. I'd bet it either mimmicks the NY laws or tries to go even further. Gun companies have to compete for buyers. Would they take one of their time honored best sellers and let its sales drop to zero just because they will not design a new lower capacity magazine? I believe we will see some newer 7 round magazines on the market or the companies might as well fold up.
