Nagant M1895 Nagant Dimensions

I am going to buy a Nagant revolver from AIM Surplus and am wanting to purchase a pelican case for it. I want to have the pelican case before I get the gun, so I need the dimensions for the gun so I can purchase the right case. If any of you have a Nagant revolver or know the specs please help me out. I want to know to know the overall length, overall height, and thickness of the gun.

I thought that only AIM Surplus had the M1895's in stock, but I just saw Rguns has some too. They are $250 though instead of $190, but are 1910-1912 manufacture. They both are advertised in excellent condition, what one do you think I should go for? I really like the idea of the older gun, but I've heard most of them were refurbs and the import marks are very intrusive whereas the AIM revolvers were import marked under the barrel. Which one would you reccomend as a light shooter and collectable?

Well I sure wouldn't pay $250.00 for one. The two I have I paid for both 0f them the price AIM wants for one and that was 2 years ago. One was early 30's dated and other was WWII 43 or 44. The wartime one is rougher finished, but the function of them feels the same to me. IMO the only ones worth a premium price are the Belgian made ones or the single action only ones that escaped being converted.
 
I understand they are expensive, but I am willing to spend that much and there is no way to buy them cheaper. Do you know if the Rguns are Imperial Russian or still CCCP? Their ad says Soviet pistol but the soviets weren't around in 1910-1912 (the dates all there are made within). I'm just wondering if the extra 50 bucks is worth it? I would like a double action revolver and if I got the AIM Surplus ones they would be 1920s and all double action. Does anyone have any pictures of the two choices im talking about or experience with any one of them?

I just purchased one of AIM's website last week but haven'r received it yet so I don't have the exact specs. However I did watch the Hicock45 video about the gun and it fits perfectly into a Smith and Wesson N frame holster. That means its going to need a fairly large case...
 
Thanks for the insight Reddog. When you receive the revolver, would you mind sending me a couple of pictures?

Also, anyone have experience with these two revolvers (well, same kind, from different retailers)?

Length from muzzle to bottom rear of grip (diagonal)- 10 1/4"
Height, measured with gun resting upside down on it's sights, to lanyard loop- 5 1/8"
It is slightly less than 1 1/2" inches across the face of the cylinder.
 
oh sorry, I saw the late October date and thought it a possibility. I would hate to pay 250$ for a nagant without being able to see the actual gun I am getting. I misunderstood the poster anyways, I thought he was saying AIM had them for 250$, but that was the same model AIM still has for 190$
 
Yes, sorry for the confusion. The aim ones are selling for $190, and are 1920s manufacture. Do you think the extra $60 is worth it for the older model? Like I said earlier, money isn't that big of an issue and I talked to some people at AIM and they said they would provide a pseudo hand-select for me if I put it in the comments during the order. The cheapest I've seen them on gunbroker have been more than what aim was selling them for so I though $190 was a good deal.

I haven't seen a ton of them in person, but generally, the later dates look better. I am not sure at what year they saw the most use.

Did the people at AIM have any insights regarding the story behind this particular lot of pistols? Based on the 2 pics they provided and the description it sounded like they were unissued...
 
They didn't have a story, but like you said, the pics made them look unissued and in pristine condition. Looking forward to some pics when you receive it! Have you ever shot one before or is this your first time dealing with one? If you've shot it did you like it?

No problem was just wondering. I already own a Tokarev and was looking for another neat gun and noticed the M1895 had come back in stock. Was originally looking at some P64's and Chinese SKS's, but these Nagant's won't be in stock much longer. And the more I think about it, they might be unissued revolvers from AIM as they said "minor wear from military type storage". Maybe they are fresh from the crates and still covered in cosmoline. Whenever AIM opens back up on Monday I'll give them a call. However. I think they are getting tired of me buggin them :D!
 
it is a really cool gun, but there are two and possibly even three guns I have to get this year. hopefully next year there will be another limited import of them so I can finally et one. I have always wanted one, but never something you actually need.

maybe when I get a new carry gun next month, I could find someone who would trade a Tri-Star t100 compact for one, that'd be cool
 
Yeah I agree. You don't really need them, but I thnk my Mosin Nagant is getting lonely so I have to buy her a friend! I also like it because it will be my first revolver (not my first pistol) and I'm eager to convert some .32-20 brass for reloading this gun. Do you have any idea of where I can find verified, published loads (like in a Lyman, Hornady, etc. book) for the 7.62x38R? I want to reload for it and achieve some good velocities, but not push it to its max obviosuly, and also to reduce the cost a little and make it more of a every-weekend shooter.
