My reloading bench!

Bench layer 1(really half of 1) out of 2! I got some high pressure laminate desk tops. They aren't big enough to cover the whole thing in one shot, so I'm going to have to cut the second to fill in. Then to find a one piece 34x72 piece of wood. Doors that I have aren't wide enough. I'll probably go with some finished 3/4 ply.

Pull the door you have even with the front edge of the bench, and cut a strip of scrap wide enough to fill in the back edge.

I built a vault in my basement that serves as my reloading room. Did all the work myself.

I ended up using a kitchen counter top that I found on clearance at lowes. Its resting on ledgers and has legs that I made for middle support. Is very stable/durable.

I have posted a picture of my LEE LCT set-up in a few forums so many of you are familiar with it.

Holy cow SARuger, why so many powder measures? Rookie here, just curious.
I've been thinking about adding a tv as well.

Here's mine.

That makes total sense. Kinda same reason guys have 4 chargemaster's... Rich boys...

Maybe I took this post the wrong way, if so, I will be the first to apologize.

Maybe I shouldn't even respond, but I have to say, if you think I'm "rich" or a "boy", you don't know me. If a guy has 4 Chargemasters, or a nice set-up, that doesn't say anything about their financial health. It does say something about their passion......

So who is SARuger? He is a 50yo hard working, lower middle class, diesel mechanic with a mortgage, 3 kids and grease to his arm pits/sweat rolling down his back, kind of guy.

There are some very nice bench set-ups on here. I'm envious! But not jealous! If I want a set-up as nice as these, I will work hard to build it, but I won't judge anyone for what they have!

Mods, if this post is out of line delete it, ban me, delete me. I'm fine either way

Jon

Oh, I am so sorry. That is not at all what I was trying to say. Let ME be the first to apologize that it came across that way. I am envious of those guys! I'm envious of the guys at the matches that I go to, where they're optic is 4x the price of my whole rig. They're all fantastic gentlemen.

When you posted the picture of all those measures, I figured they were for ease of changing calibers/charge weight to a predetermined charge and powder. It's smart. I did not think you were showing off at all.

Again, I'm sorry my post came across the way it did.

I believe bench size is all relevant to the degree of interest.

I currently load for only one caliber and therefore my bench is pretty modest as is the number of tools I have on it. Though on this bench I can accomplish everything I need to complete my goals.

At this stage in my life I'm long past the envy game and am content with what I have. The only envy I display these days are for those of my own age who have been blessed with very good health.

Enjoy life!!!

I only have my hunting rifle. I want more but life dictates that can't happen right now. When it does, I will be able to expand my reloading opportunities.

My bench is 48 inches wide but allows me to tinker, tweak, build, clean, etc.

I've got dies for 45ACP and 30-30. Both of which are in my short list. So when I can afford more, more will come.

Accepted and my apology as well!

Yeah, I'm not doing ss again... Just looked up on fastenal's website... Grade 8 coated bolts are cheaper than the ss crap
Good move to get SS bolt, nuts that have any strength in them is expensive. Most have less strength than a grade 3. That's why they are so soft

Unless your in a food, chemical or marine environment there really is no need or advantage to stainless hardware. I worked in a food plant for many years and Stainless is a pain. Even all our plumbing work had to be Stainless or PVC.

I just went with a steel grade 8 that is corrosion resistant.

Didn't say you cant't get them in grade # bolts for strength. I just never saw the, or had the need. Its a reloading bench to start with so why SS for fasteners?? Rust, then what about the equipment. Just curious

My reloading room, in the middle of summer gets up around 90%rh, and often times more.

Now the equipment. I regularly spray uncoated(painted, etc) Steel with wd-40 specialist. I have seen rust prevention tests and the stuff is amazing. Other than having my room built on a pier on the ocean, I don't see a much more favorable location for rust and corrosion

How long did you guys spend making your bench all tidy, and neat?:p

My bench very rarely looks like that if I have been loading anything.
