My reloading bench!

Remington ??

I have some Remington Rifles and like them a lot . I moved my loading stuff to an out building 15 years ago . I made a place just for my self and spend hours in the winter doing the thing I love . My wife is happy with me and my mess out of the house ?

I started reloading in around 1967/8 and have a lot of time and money in this .

I don't doubt it!

We have a small out building, about 30 square feet, but since it's also where the lawn equipment goes, and is just a tin shed with no insulation (does have an outlet though) I figured with the gas cans it wouldn't be safe, and the temperature fluctuations would be awful. Let alone I'd only be able to reload in the late spring/mid fall because of temperature.

There's much to be said for being comfortable while reloading.
Long ago, I moved my stuff indoors, too.
In the house, though, using my large computer desk.
Presses mounted on wood and held with nuts and bolts drilled under where the keyboard hides them.
Or just large C-clamps sometimes.
Lots of room and out of the weather.
Better than a hot/cold garage or a damp basement.

My setup is in the basement. There is a floor drain and I run a good dehumidifier frequently. Not that I have a damp basement but during this time of year the humidity is really bad. It's also heated (hot water radiators that work fantastic) so I keep it dry with temps around ~60-70 all year long.

I've used out buildings in the past and a room over a connected garage. I like my basement the best.

When we had a basement, the bench was set up somewhat near the furnace.
So it was nice and toasty during the winter.
But without any AC duct the summers were nasty.
We had a humidifier, but for the summer I reloaded upstairs in the kitchen with the press clamped to the kitchen counter.
Until my better half found that errant primer in the disposal.
Poor girl never has gotten over it. :)

Guess I'll play along. Here is my humble bench. Still adding to it. It is two repurposed desks. The primary is an old small computer desk that I added the top from and old industrial desk which is 1.125" thick and rock solid. Press doesn't flex a bit. The room is a now vacant upstairs bedroom.

I have 6 rifles to build in 40 days before I have to leave for long range target practice before antelope hunting season.

I have no time for bench building. This thread has been a bad influence.

I bought a vise and rebuilt it.

I have a bench 2' x3' that weighs 400 pounds. It is welded 1/2" steel plate with an elevator system. I got it from Boeing surplus. I pulled a barrel with it last night.

I want to be able to run a barrel vise, two machinist vises and reloading presses from a bench.

Just finished this guy up last night. 24" x 48". Around $100 total not including the strip of LEDs. Now I just need something to sit on.
