My Keltec P32 just DIED!!!

Sorry to take so long to answer you. Been busy with work and hae not been reading TFL much the past couple of days. I appreciate all of the feedback and support from everybody on here.

CrociJA,

<revolvergeek: Sorry that your P-32 "self-destructed". >

Thanks!

<Things break, though it could it of been the result of something you did? I know sometimes I
have a maddening ability to break things "accidentally". Course one thing I will say is that Kel-Tech uses plastic not polymer, right?>

Keltec says that they use Dupont ninja polymer. The nature of the frame does not seem to have been a factor in the failure. The rails in the bottom of the grip are complete and undamaged. Is seems like the problem was good old fashioned spring failure, which never even crossed my mind at first as it has never happend to me in any gun that i have ever owned.

The only thing that i have done to this pistol is shoot it with factory ammo, and clean it every 200 rounds or so with a bit of Shooter's Choice and a toothbrush. The gun was lubed with a bit of Tetra Grease and the outside wibed down with G96. No modifiactions of any sort.

< Maybe it was a result of constant stress or a certain repetitous activity that eventually "overstressed" your pistol. Hate to say it but I have never favored shoving a bare pistol in any form of pocket WITHOUT some sort of holster. >

From the first Line of the post : "I was just getting ready to go to lunch, and had my P32 in a front pocket holster, ". No repetitive activity other than shooting, carried ALWAYS in an Uncle Mikes nylon pocket holster, and have a snap cap for dryfiring it.

I can't imagine anything that i have done other than actually shooting it that might have caused it to fail.

hoosierdaddy,

I had been carrying it as a primary only for those days when i had to dress up, and as a backup to a j-frame the rest of the time. I normally try to have two or three backups of some type; mousegun, impact kerambit, spyderco/benchmade folder, so i have some fallback. The Keltec made it easy to be lazy and just drop it in it's pocket holster with spare mag in a pocket and go. I think that it will be a long time before i just carry one pistol again.

Chrismc1,

I have to friends that i shoot with that have P32s and theirs work fine. I have a variety of small guns (j-frames, Makarov, Beretta 22 and 25) but i really like the size and relative thump that the P32 offers. It is flatter than the little Berettas, and lighter, but delivers over twice the energy.

Thanks for your suggestions, but i think for the time being I will use a Beretta 22 in my pocket and one of my j-frames IWB or bellyband depending on clothing.
