Mossberg 464 SPX - Nearly speechless...

I could like a "tacticool" lever gun in .357, with full length magazine and 16in barrel (threaded). However, this is over the top in my mind.

They didn't put a rail on top which is the one place I would want one. I give them credit for trying but they missed the mark I think.

Kinda silly but one thing ya gotta give to the lever actions, it's about the only rifle you can top load while a round is chambered. I have no use for that thing but I bet it sells fairly well.

It seems to me that the people who are into the lever guns, aren't into tacticool and the guys into twcticool aren't into lever guns. If I was a betting man, my money says that this is going to flop! However, I have been known to lose my shirt at the casinos!!!!!

You never know... maybe Mossberg will open up a new niche market: Tacti-cowboy?

IMHO, it is an abomination, and trying to handle one would be somewhat like picking up dogturd by the clean end....................

.

It's okay to have a bit of fun right? If someone just changed the rules I did not get the memo.

Me neither... BTW, I like John Wayne and the Marlboro Man as much as the next guy but... hey... I can move on...

I'd buy one. Weather proof, probably very durable. Who ever said the leveraction wasn't a tactical rifle is confused, it was the first tactical rifle long before AR's & AK's.

We are having fun... at Mossberg's expense.

I can definitely see what you mean here, but, while the lever action might be considered the tactical rifle of its day, there is a HUGE gap between lever rifles and modern tactical weaponry. That is like saying that putting a harness on the front of your car makes sense because horse drawn carriages were the cars of their day.

The two arent even close.
If you know what you are doing, a leveraction will do anything an AR will do.
Sure it dosn't have the range or as quick a follow up shot.

You should go tell Gerry M. that you can out shoot him with you tactical pistol & he can use his wheel gun with a harness on it.

Comn-cents
You have misunderstood my intent. First off, I own nothing tactical - I prefer the lever rifle end of this particular spectrum. I am simply saying that I think the new Mossberg looks ridiculous, and that the mixing of these two rifle styles is, in my opinion, a tactical error... pun intended. Just because the lever rifle was "the tactical rifle of its day" does not mean it makes sense to combine the two.

Looks like something off the set of Serenity. Which, BTW, was a great show.

Seriously, it would have made a handy carbine if they had just stuck to a plain synthetic stock and a rail to mount a long eye relief scope or red dot. I would at least consider buying that. Not this ugly thing though.
