M. Obama's Guards Printing?

Washington, DC police officer Thomas Delahanty and Press Secretary James Brady lay wounded on the ground. Secret Service agents continue to pin down John Hinckley, Jr. while two agents reach for what appears to be the gun that had been fired. A Secret Service agent in the foreground holds an UZI submachine gun.

An UZI submachine gun he produced from a briefcase, I've seen the video, not from under his shirt. And, as you'll notice, I did make mention of the fact that the agents carrying the satchels are more than likely carrying SMG's. But there is no way those guys are carrying UZI's, or any other effectively sized SMG, under their shirts.

Back Pack

My guess is the guy with the backpack (Bald, blue shirt) has a trauma kit, O2, IV kit with saline and the proper typed blood.

Well then none of this yahoos knows how to conceal carry then since Glocks and other such weapons are incredibly easy to conceal without printing. Sorry, I suspect that they have more than a simple Glock or Sig under their shirts.

Lastly, I doubt that they will reveal what weapons that they carry since that takes away from their tactical response if the bad guys know what they are carrying and out gun them by that knowledge.

All I can say is they look a whole lot bigger than some simple Glocks. Just my opinion and I doubt any of us will ever know since that is most likely highly classified information. By the way, there are some very small submachine guns out there now that are easy to conceal.

Since none of us will ever know what they are printing my vote goes for something a whole lot more lethal than a Glock. Just my opinion, you folks are welcome to your own.

God bless,

Alaska

Yes, the detail is printing and doing so quite intentionally. If they wanted to be clandestine, then the guns would not be printing.

The UZI is a stupid gun and this is not 1981. No one uses them anymore. Not even the Secret Service.

Funny, I didn't realize anyone was making smart guns. The German Bundeswehr still uses Uzis at least as recent as 2 years ago, made under license and called the MP2. And I believe they are still in use in several African countries.

Well, let's look:

This photo, I see a very LARGE object I suspect is at least 12 inches in length on his right hip. I see printing of an object on his left hip and both pockets.

The object on his right hip is a lot larger than any sig or Glock I have ever seen.

Here is the first agent a bit bigger looking at what is under his shirt. If that is a Sig or Glock, it is the biggest Sig or Glock I have ever seen.

Sorry, it didn't come out bigger for some reason. In any case, I suspect that they have a whole lot more firepower than some Sigs and Glocks.

Ok, so some people still use the UZI. But I would not be suggesting that African countries are places where tactical skill and/or precision hold much value. Most of Africa is a political and social mess, it is not something we should ascribe to be like or consider worth copying. This is a place of pirates, cholera, chopping off your neighbor's arm and a whole litany of things repugnant to the human race. And I would wager that the German use of the MP2 is pretty limited. In fact, it appears they are replacing it.

And since we've all decided to get our UZI knowledge and scoop our UZI pictures from wikipedia, I should point out the following sentence you missed, Alaska444:

"The United States Secret Service used the Uzi as their standard submachine gun from the 1960s until the early 1990s, when it was phased out and replaced with the Heckler & Koch MP5 and FN P90."

Neither of which are going to fit in your pants.

But aside from your wise cracks, the UZI is a stupid gun. If you want to throw a lot of bullets in the general direction without hitting anything, it's perfect. But I'm not sure when that is a useful tactic. Too much recoil from too small a package in full auto. As a semi, just slap an extended mag in a dedicated pistol.

I do agree with you DNS, however, that those guns are there to be seen.

I doubt that they will reveal what weapons that they carry since that takes away from their tactical response

I doubt not. Are we really having this conversation? Are we all still 12?

Alaska444,

Yup--He must be packing 25% of his body weight (of course I jest, but you get my point--definitely ready for any potential need that calls for 'social interaction' if you will.)

I have always been both fascinated and appreciative of the Secret Service (National Geographic CH. ran a pretty good series on them of late).

As previously mentioned, the UZI goes way back and outside of the attempted assassination of President Reagan, its most famous role was when the Israeli's used them on the Raid at Entebbe.

Folks,

I stated earlier that I don't believe that they are just carrying simple hand guns. I stated I believed that they had submachine guns. The ONLY picture I could find of secret service employing a submachine gun was the Reagan incident.

I NEVER stated that they still used the UZI today.

Some of you are just a bunch of know it all jerks is all I can say.

I am so glad you all know what is under their clothes. Looks a whole lot bigger than any Glock or Sig I know of, but of course, all of you are privy to the secret details of Secret service details.

Great discussion guys.

JERKS

The fellows in the background with their backs to the camera have effectively formed a human fence in the street to stop anyone from joining the group around the Obama's so I would assume that anyone in the forward part of the picture, no matter how dressed, is part of the security team. Even the flowers have microphones! :)

Not sure what type of submachine gun they have, but it is a lot more fire power than any of us can legally carry.
Thats cause they get a special badge to go along with that special gun:eek:

The MP5K is actually just about 12 inches in length which would correspond very favorably to the photo of the agent with a large object on his right hip.

Over all length 12.79 inches.

Now back to my original point. I believe that what they have is a whole lot more than a regular SA pistol. Some folks have stated that the Secret Service uses the HK MP5. Well one version of that submachine gun is the MP5K which is about 12 inches in length.

I will stop posting, but is anyone going to state that the guy could not possibly have that under his shirt? If so, you folks are all entitled to your own opinions. I have stated mine.

Good night indeed.

Having held and shot 3 different versions of the MP5 fairly extensively, including the K model, I will say beyond a shadow of a doubt there is no way he has an MP5K on his hip and it's not the length that precludes that. It is the fact that the height of the weapon makes it too large for practical hip carry. If I remember my numbers correctly, and I may not, but I'm pretty sure the MP5K measures about 11 inches from the top of the rear sight to the bottom of the pistol grip. Under a jacket in a shoulder holster, yes, in one of those messenger bags carried by the other agents, definately. But carrying an MP5K on the hip is not practical for any length of time, nor would it allow for comfortable movement in a casual urban setting as pictured.

That's not a briefcase, it's the railing or curb behind him.

SS Detail

Those guys have my respect. Out of the entire detail there probably isn't one who likes either of the O'Dramas but they put their lives on the line because they have sworn an oath to do so.
Don't sell short the lowly Uzi. I have one and like it. I also have an XM-15e2 that fits in a briefcase and I can carry it anywhere it's legal to do so with no printing and no hysteria. Regards

I keep looking at your tiny pictures, but for the life of me, I don't see anything that looks to be more than 8".

The Secret Service obviously has a variety of weapons to pick from depending on the conditions they will be working under; one of them is the UZI. In this case the secret service does not care too much about printing; in fact they want people to know that they are there. What most of us will not see are the true undercover officers scattered through the crowd.
As the city I worked in had a large military population we had Washington V.I.P.S.’ in town on a semi regular basis. On my first traffic control assignment with them, I asked how many agents I should expect to see? I was told XX number and I was also told that there were a number?? I would not see.

I was also told that at one time the Secret service had a brief cases' with Uzi's mounted inside them and a firing Mechanism attached to the "normal carrying handle" of the briefcase. That way if needed all the shooter had to do was point the briefcase in a direction and fire, zero accuracy but it would be effective at 10- 20 feet. I never had the chance to see one, so I don't know if this an Urban legend or not.
