LIVE from the Stand!

I have been 3 afternoons this week and seen nothing probably only heard about a dozen shots total. I guess I will have to try mornings this weekend see if they are moving then.

I shot at the biggest buck of my life tonight. Thing must have had 15 inch G2's....

Hit a darn limb on a little hickory tree and arrow did a left zig and hit 10 yards left into the dirt.

I'm still heart broke.

Freaking huge buck.

Oh that sucks. :(

This is a rough game sometimes.

Bummer. :(
Hope it turns around for you.

I will attempt a Live From the Stand, wild pig edition tonight. Last week was a bust as the temp dropped bellow freezing and was not prepared for that cold...I mainly forgot gloves and paid for it as frost built up on the barrel.

I have a bag of hunting necessities, but I took it out of the truck to make room for a different task and forgot about it.

Not often I wish Louann and I were paying for a monthly phone plan ( Prepaid junk is us! ) but this thread is almost enough.

Tomorrow is Fl. General season opener in our area. Just got back from picking trees for the climbers. Can't wait.............which is kind of sad when you figure how OLD I am.

But then if it gets to where there's no "can't wait"......there's not much reason to go.

You got that right!

I'll be "LIVE from the stand!" tomorrow afternoon.... 230 or so.

My cousin shot a doe yesterday and my dad missed a big buck today.

The chase phase is "officially" underway in our area. Deer/car reports, hunter reports and previous predictions all indicate such. Today was predicted to be THE best day, tomorrow a close second.

It's not even opening day and I can't wait!

Good luck Peetza! I'm just starting to get geared up for opening day on the 19th (I haven't even sighted in my rifle yet). As we get closer to the big day I find myself getting more excited about it.

In the blind near Weatherford TX. Had deer all around us before light. My 15 yo daughter just put a meat doe on the ground @ 80 yards with her 6.8 SPC AR-15. Still see deer moving so we are going to hang and try for a twofer.

If I could figure out how to post pictures from my phone, I would. If some can mentor me on that, that'd be great, since all I have is the phone out here. Will be back in the blind tonight.

When we go into town tonight for dinner, I'll see if I can download it.

We are set up in a brushpile overlooking a fenceline with field behind us. Well see how this goes.

Good luck everyone.
went yesteday morning and saw 2 bobcats at around a hundred yards. We have enough rabbits coming to 1 of our food plots that the cats are hanging around. Hope I get a clean shot soon don't need them hanging around making the deer nervous.

At least I am eating venison for supper. I got a big deer stew and a few cold beverages I am working on now.

I tried to post twice this morning from my blackberry, but the dang thing kept throwing me off. I could get the post typed, then when I'd hit "submit reply", it would prompt me for my username and password. Dang it!

No joy from the stand this morning. Deep fog rolled in just at daylight and for several hours I couldn't see a thing. The deer could have been doing the hoogy-boogy in my shooting lane and I'd never have known it. Oh, well, such is the nature of hunting in the Louisiana swamps.

Surprisingly slow night.
About 15 minutes before dark I saw a lone deer moving east to west about 100 yards south of me.
Then just at the end of shooting light a small deer came in and gave me a perfect broadside 10 yard shot but I couldn't tell if it was a button buck or or small doe so I let it walk.

Should be back on the stand tomorrow afternoon.

Well, we had 5 does come out, but no clear shots on the mature ones. My kiddo was busted trying to get a cull buck. Back at it tomorrow.

Paw paw,
When mobile make sure the "remember me" box is checked before you log in....

Well here I am working the night shift here at live from the stand.... waiting on pigs...not much going on its been real windy, the wind should calm down and the moon is good, so maybe in an hour or two things will pick up.

A coyote just went by as I was typing this. His lucky day LOL.
