I think even the best manufacturers have problems designing and manufacturing reliable, durable pocket sized 9mm semi-auto handguns.
At least for right now, the constraints of cartridge power, materials, design, and cost mean that guns this size have a relatively high problem rate, compared to medium and large size 9mm semi-auto handguns.
They're putting these guns out because they sell, not because reliability/durability issues have been resolved.
