Knock yourself out....spend $1650 on a handgun

Wth the current price in ammo and all the Dumb-as-Craps in the house and senate... I would stockpile ammo or buy a good reloading set up and lots or reloading components. You already have a nice collection so what is one more gun going to do for you when ammo doubles or triples from current prices?

I had about 6 cases of WWB in 9mm a few years back and I only paid $5 a box. The cheapest I have seen them is now almost $12 a box. That is an increase of 140% in about 7.5 years. That is an annualized return of almost 20% a year. I blew through the last of my stash recently and I'm pretty bummed out. I wish ammo prices would plummet like gas prices have... but thats not likely. I know the Dems want to dry up supply by making prices astronomical.

I believe once ammo is relatively "scarce", the Dems will start putting crazy restrictions on reloading materials. Either that, or they will do it at the same time. Buy another expensive paper weight if you like... For me... I prefer lead!

If I had that budget I think I would go with a Springfield EMP 9mm, (you obviously are comfortable with 1911's) a really good concealment holster, and spend the rest on a good shooting class, or a ton of ammo.

wilson compact cqb, or an sti edge.
of course, for ccw you really can't beat a kahr p9. not as cool as the 2 named above, but you'll get plenty of ammo and range time w the money you save.

If you ever have to use that gun is your defense it's going to get confiscated and held in the evidence room for quite awhile. Evidence rooms have a nasty reputation for not treating confiscated handguns gently. Sometimes they even engrave information on the gun. If my Colt Series 80 that I paid $450 for way back when gets bunged up in an evidence room I can live with that. However, it'd just flat out break my heart to have a $1650 come out of there look'n like it'd been used as a hockey puck!!

This is weird but I've been feeling odd about my HK P7M8 now that it's almost worth it's wieght in gold.

I think it probably was the most under-rated CCW ever. It is as slim as the SIG P290 and Kahr PM9 / CM9. At 6.7" it was easy to carry, fast aquisition, super-accurate and great SA like trigger pull.

But I feel odd carrying such a work of art with me. I'd rather buy a Kahr or a Kimber or something to carry and put my beautiful HK under glass on display. :D

Well anyway, I know this isn't an HK thread.

I am now looking at Kahr PM9/CM9, Kimber, Rohrbaugh, SIG P290 and the like.

DW Valorbob - for when you don't want to scratch your Kobra Carry up. An even more cc'able variant on the same theme is DW's Guardian (alloy/bob commander) - initially just in 9mm, out this spring in .45 - so take your pick - with $ left over for extra mags 'n such.
