Just one 9mm pistol opinions

I tried a P320 Compact at a factory gun shoot at LGS this spring. Quick impression was that it was awesome. If I already did not have Glock 19/PPQ/VP9 I would probably get one for myself and still might before November but I was hoping the model with safety would show up sometime soon. I like that the P320 Compact can also be used with the P320 Sub Compact frame.

IMO the P320 is well worth looking at as an option. So many fantastic choices these days.

I have the sig p320c and I like it but I haven't tried enough to compare it to anything. Thinking about getting a glock 19. I recently heard of grand power too, I know there is a k100 and it sounds good, but I don't have much on it.

My local store has a S&W m&p shield 9 for $300

I would prefer to say 1911 or High Power but find agreement with the Glock 19 boys ( i hope lightning does not strike me for saying that).

Seriously though. The P30L is GREAT. It's what the P30 should be. It's proportions are nearly identical to the full size USP.

I believe you have had P30 before? If so you know the trigger has a long reset but that is not an issue for me.

Yeah I kind of want to pick one up as the fullsize counterpart to my P2000. Just got to free up some funds.

No comment or experiences with the sig 320 series?

I like the P320 series. I think it's a good product that will do well for SIG and if someone said here's your issued firearm and it was the P320 I would be pretty happy. That said, the P320 Compact I owned didn't do anything better overall, for me, than my Glock 19. I did find slow fire I could group slightly better with it, but I could shoot the Glock 19 faster to maintain the same group size. I do think the stock trigger is quite good, but honestly I don't mind the trigger on the Glock stock. I do a little polish with Flitz and an APEX striker block andhonestly I don't think I need the APEX part, but I already bought them. I'm using a 13 lb. hand exerciser so 5.5 lb. isn't very noticeable, even with the Glock's stiff break. Add in very cheap Glock mags, tons of sight and holster options, and the investment I already have in Glock and it's not enough to sway me. But if you're someone starting out from the beginning without a Glock then I think it's worth a rental.

Don't hesitate to buy your G17, or G19 used via a local cash transaction. I find really nice examples in the $400 range here... if needed, Glock will repair them under warranty.

I'm not a Glock Fan-Boy sort, but Glock seems to meet your criteria. Which one will depend on your overall size, your hand size, and how much you think you will carry it. To me, the G19 and G17 are so close in capacity that the fit of the grip should be the determining factor, keeping in mind that the back strap hump is placed differently. The G26 has a reduced capacity but it really conceals well for me, and I wouldn't hesitate to go that route if concealment is going to be an issue. If at-home capacity is an issue, you could always change the 10 round mag out for a 15- or 17-count mag when you get home for the evening.

"...availability of parts and reasonable accessories..." Really shouldn't be on a list of 'criteria'. If the thing fits your hand, goes bang every time and hits what you aim at, you're set.
Only have one 9mm myself. It's an Inglis BHP. Doesn't shoot well, but it looks good. Put a .41AE barrel in it. Not as stupid an idea as it sounds. Bought 500 cases at the same time. Needs more refining of the load and spring, I think. Relatively inexpensive cast .410" bullets don't exist up here anyway.

I disagree. Given the purposes set forth by the OP:

It seems to me that "availability of parts and reasonable accessories" is a perfectly acceptable criterion to establish. For carry, the OP just might want a holster. For HD, a light. If the OP wants to do his own maintenance, changing springs and the like, being able to easily order them online is pretty handy.

I don't even own one, and never shot one, but I'd say LOOK at an HK 2000. I handled one with a light LEM, and it offers a very safe carry, with a very good trigger. It is small enough to carry, very accurate, very reliable, and very durable by all accounts. I own Glocks/MP/SIG/HP, etc. etc. - so this may surprise you.

I don't care for Glocks at all, but if I could only have one pistol, given the durability, availability of parts and accessories of/for Glock pistols, I would have to concede and make it a Glock. They aren't pretty, I don't think the grip angle is at all comfy for me, but they do exactly what they were designed to do very reliably and simply.

The goal is to buy, practice, carry, and care for just one gun

Well where's the fun in THIS???

I'd recommend the CZ (Colonel Jeff Cooper liked 'em) but given your forum name just go for the Glock and good luck.
