If you only had $400 for ccw...

"...I had expected at least one person to say a pps or ppk at some point..."

Well, if you're talking NEW, a PPK's going to run @ $530... a PPS's going to run @$600... So they don't fit your $400 parameter unless you're considering used.

I'm also surprised that Kahr got so many votes as well. The only thing about the cw9 compared to the pm9 some say is the engraving on the slide, different rifling and something about the slide stop lever being more rounder or something in that nature please correct me if I'm wrong and of course your paying at least $150 more for the pm9 but I hear all positive feedback on that gun

007...
Yeah, what you're saying about the differences is basically correct, but, to be precise, the more expensive model that correlates to the CW9 (7+1) is the P9 (7+1)... not the PM9. (I know it's an easy thing to get confused on.)

The PM9 is slightly smaller and is 6+1. The cheaper model that correlates to the PM9 is the CM9 (6+1).

400 bucks? I'd get a Bulgarian Makarov, the right holster, and 500 rounds of ammo to practice with.

You can find a lot of guns for less that $400.00 if you just look around a bit. Most of them would be used, but that's always my first choice anyway.

You could buy 2 CZ 82s one of the great steals in the mil surp market. With a capacity of 12 +1, all steel construction, polygonal rifling, American style magazine release, and built for the cheap steel case 9x18 ammo, how could you go wrong? Hornady now makes their self defense ammo in 9x18.

I would save another 400 and have some choices.

Yeah because everybody knows the dozens of choices in that price range all suck.

I rather have a good gun in my budget now than go unarmed. For me another $400 would have meant anoter six to eight months at best. For me that would be too long to wait for a weapon to protect my wife and child with.
