If you had to use 1 handgun for the rest of your life what would it be?

Tough question.
One handgun? A .357 revolver.
One auto? Something reliable with a .22 conversion. Probably a Glock 21 with conversion and a lifetime supply of spare parts, or a 1911 with conversion and stick with ball ammo only.

Since the question does not specify the circumstances, Colt SAA. Every time I pick mine up , I think , "You know they could have just quit after this one ."

A gun for all seasons.

+1 to what Kutz said. In MY case, "A good 1911A1" is a Springfield Armory National Match in .45 ACP. If the rules allow it, I'd also throw in a conversion kit for .45 Super, just in case I'm some place where the "varmints" are furry, have long claws, and weigh anywhere NEAR what I do, or more.

Easy.....my CZ PCR D, followed closely by the 9mm Rami. I've had 30 handguns in the past 6 yrs looking for "it." Better than all I've had....numerous Springfields, Glocks, Kahrs, Sig, Kimber, Para, Walther, S&W's, Beretta, Ruger, Keltec and Taurus. Crazy accurate, zero issues, near perfect feel.

Ruger mark 2
22LR

and the manual so i can put it back together

I can tell you what the manual say word for word. It's easy, all you have to do is wait for a full moon, point the gun up, get the sear set, spin around 3 times exactly, crawl under the table, bark like a dog, then point the gun down, then put that pin in. It's just that easy. :p

Btw my votes are Sig 229 or glock 19

If.....

But I don't.
Otherwise Sig 229, X5 or Beretta M9/ 92fs.

If it's for the rest of my life, then I'd spend $5k on an Heirloom Precision double stack 1911 and a few caliber conversion kits. I'd probably shoot mostly 45 ACP and 22 LR.

Then again, I'd also be happy with a standard Glock 19 Gen4 with Trijicon RMR.

Probably a Smith & Wesson Model 19, but since you said semi-auto, I'd pick one of the Ruger MK, 22's. Which one wouldn't matter too much. Just the standard auto, with a 4 tapered barrel and fixed sights.
