If you had $300 to spend...

What semi-automatic 9mm would you choose and why? Looking for a new "truck gun" and don't want to spend a ton. Thanks for your perspective!

For new pistols there are great deals on original M&P pistol very close to your price point at $319. If you don't mind the 8 round capacity you definitely can get the Shield at your price point at a lot of places. If you don't mind used there are a ton of good used pistols especially if you are OK with .40.

CanIk TP9DA just hit $299. I can’t say enough about it’s value. It’s also a DA/SA striker so the added safety for a truck gun is awesome. Trigger is easily on par with the best out there and accuracy is just silly.

How about a S&W SD9VE?
I have a SD9VE and it works fine. However, I have a Taurus PT111 G2 (now G2C) that is slightly shorter and I shoot it better. It was $200 and it has never malfunctioned in nearly 1,000 rounds. It fits my SD9VE holster.

You know of course,,,

You know of course,,,
That you're going to get a recommendation for every 9mm pistol made.

But what the heck,,,
Here's what I would recommend.

Ruger EC9s.

It's as basic a pistol as you can get,,,
Sights integral with the slide means no futzing around with adjustments.

Striker fired with a decent trigger,,,
Manual safety switch,,,
7 +1 capacity.

Only $218.00 at Buds.

I own the first gen LC9 that I bought right after they came out,,,
I'm very used to my gun so I see no reason to change.

But, I will be buying two gifts for college graduation presents very soon,,,
The EC9s is a fieryarm I can gift with all confidence in the gun and the parent company.

Taurus G2C. Probably the best value handgun available right now. There are a ton of reviews on it. I paid $175 for it brand new and have put close to 3000 flawless rds through it. It eats every brand and style of 9mm ammo i feed it. I am not a Taurus cheerleader by any means but this gun just works & works extremely well. Its made well, quite accurate and has a decent trigger.

Sar K2P or CM9 gen2 basically the same gun with the latter being a little more streamlined with a couple added features. 17+1 capacity, DA/SA, durable, reliable, accurate, CZ style that accepts certain MecGar CZ mags.

There are quite a few good choices out there these days for that price.

What are Bersas running these days? A lot of people seem to like them. Getting a Ruger for the price Aarond cited seems pretty promising.
