If Someone Handed You $1,000...

and said you can buy any brand new, current production pistol, what would you buy? Let's say this would be the one and only sidearm you could have for the rest of your life. You don't get to keep the difference and spend it on ammo or anything if you get a cheap gun.

Edit: maybe a better way to word this would be... Let's say you were drafted into the Marines tomorrow and were going be fighting in Afghanistan. They tell you that you can bring any handgun that you want. What would you bring?

If only one,
Cz 85 combat matte stainless preferred, sent to cz custom for a single action trigger, and hammer with a kadet 22 conversion.

Should be satin nickel, I got confused.

I'd get a Glock 20 in 10mm.

WITH a .40 S&W conversion barrel.

Would have all bases covered, everything from rabbit hunting to brown bear/velociraptor defense.

Sphinx Compact Duotone ... I might have to add a few $$$.

Really, it can be my one and only pistol for the rest of my life? I would pass so I can buy as many guns as I want.

If for whatever reason I only wanted to own a single pistol it would be my Walther M1 PPQ 9MM - the best all around pistol I have ever tried for my needs that include CCW.

Why do people put in this kind of qualifier? all right, I'll play, but you won't like my honest answer.

There is NO current production auto pistol that I would choose as my "one and only sidearm for the rest of my life". Period. Not even a 1911A1.

There are some out of production guns that I would choose from, but I already have them, so buying one is, for me, unnecessary.

and if I did HAVE to choose one "for the rest of my life" it would probably be a revolver.

next question?

I think that qualifier is to get people to choose based on more than just cool factor, but consider all aspects of the pistol.

Range toys

A $1000 will get you a CZ 75 and the CZ Kadet 22lr conversion slide.
Both are some of the most accurate and easy to shoot range auto's that I've ever had.
