i once thought i had to have a glock

Orange Floorplate

Thats a factory Glock Orange Floorplate..... they are costly but I am trying to find enough to do all 10 of my G21 mags, then I am looking for 10 of the Factory Glock Blue Floorplates to do my G20 Mags.

Gee Tamara, I'm glad you've had good luck with your Glock's. Unfortunately I didn't. There's nothin' like paying good money for a pistol that doesn't work. Kinda pisses ya off...know what I mean? If you had bad luck with a two pistols of the same make would you ever buy another? You'd probably never go back. Well, neither have I.
That's very gallant of you to be Glock defender but it's falling on deaf ears. Say what?

Well, I meant to clarify that the fit and finish of the Glocks I've just toyed with was so much improved over the piece of junk that I got originally that I'm "assuming" they're more reliable when fired. I haven't yet shot a newer model so I don't actually know if they are better that my original Glock paperweight. Seriously, I come from a gun heavy family and friend background so I've shot some nice pieces and some junk pieces in my day. I still can't get over how bloody awful my first experience was with Glock relative to how much so many people revere them today.

Well, for one thing Glock's are good pistols. It's strange though...I have never found it necessary to defend any of my Sig-Sauers but Glock enthusiests for some reason find it necessary to defend their particular make.

J. Parker,

Its funny how opinionated most people are about Glocks. It really has become a love it or hate it kinda thing. I used to hate them too, swearing to only own guns that were all steel. But like many others I've realized my feelings were irrational and not based on fact.

I hated my HK USP/C 9mm because the thing couldn't function properly new and even after I got it back from the factory. But I don't criticize the USP line because there are a lot of satisfied USP owners out there.

If you don't like Glocks fine but don't think we're "defending" our choice here. (I smiled when I read that.) We're praising Glock for making a great combat/defense gun.

I can appreciate a nice 1911, Sig, or HK too. But for my primary defense pistol I recently traded in my P229 for a Glock 23, because I think its "better".

I didn't "defend" anything.

Someone said I don't have to "settle" for a Glock.

I merely clarified that I didn't "settle" for one.

Sig-Sauer owners don't "defend" their choice? Really? Watch this [donning nomex]:

"SIG stands for Store In Grease, because they're rustbuckets.";) :p

A man can't have to many good handguns and especially reliable ones that can be depended on come what may. There is nothing tougher or more relaible than a Glock 17/19, they are as close to a forever gun as you can get.

I have a love / hate relationship with Glock. I love how they work, I hate how they feel in the hand. I just got a Walther P99. It has all the positive aspects of the Glock and none of the negatives. Glocks are great guns, but I'll take my Walther and my Beretta thankyou. I just can't get over the crappy shape of the Glock grip enough to fall in love with it.

Actually, after a hot, sweaty shooting session years ago I threw my P-220 in my safe and didn't take it out for about a week and it had some surface rust on the top of the slide that I wipped off with some bore cleaner, no problema. Fact...moisture does not like blued guns.
It was a great shooter before the rust and a great shooter after. Durability is the most overrated quality of any pistol. I have never, never, never had any pistol let me down because it was rusted.....ridiculous.
Also, I've never run over any of my pistols to see if they could take it or froze them in ice or tossed them in a snowbank over the winter or put them in a bucket of salt water for sixty hours.

I'm with you brasso. I looked at the G19 and G23. The early model frames felt OK, but no quite right. I absolutely hate the new finger groove models.

My P99 on the other hand is the best feeling gun I have ever picked up. Same light weight as a Glock, but it just has a quality to it not found in any of the other polymer guns.

I acquired the G17 as a survival tool.

The things that sold me on it:

9mm ammo. - NATO standard, available almost anywhere in the world.

I like having a 9mm in the collection for the fun of it and the cheap brass. But the reason listed about intrigues me. When was the last time you were in say istanbull and needed some 9mm ammo for your glock. A world standard is of little use to most of use who can not carry overseas.

Tamara says: Looks like a "defense" to me; I rest my case. ;)

Albeit a mild defense. At least I don't yell and scream and throw my beer bottles against the wall. GRRRRRRR! I'M PISSED! Hehehehehehe. Tamara..you tricked me..

I was VERY anti Glock for years until some friends insisted I shoot theirs. I now have 4. Accurate and reliable. EASY to repair....that has not been necessary yet... Have a G17, two G26s (one for momma), and a G30. The Sigs are now gone...Yes, with a blue finish they ARE rustbuckets...Still have a USP, but HKs are pricey for what you get and are harder to repair, etc.

I shot G17s, G19s and a 17L extensively before I tried out a HK USPF. Bought one...then another one in .40 and never looked back. Glocks are fine tools, but I won't buy one...

Had an HK first, swore to never get a Glock. Got a Glock. Even through the "Wow, I have a new gun!" carry-it-around-and-look-at-it-all-thing, I still knew I was an HK guy at heart.

I took a tool file to the receiver of the Glock to help it feel better in my hand and to smooth out the plug I put in that funky hole where the lanyard goes... now it's all marred up and I dig it for that. Would never dream of doing that the HK. Hmph...

I look at Glocks like Honda Accords. They do everything fine, just nothing really special, almost boring. My Glocks are the first ones I pull out when the words "wanna trade" pop up. I've always got one or two in the safe.
Still really like my USPs, P7's and 1911s, but my Glocks have their place too. ;)

glock talk

i can only come up with one thing.they should do away with the death penalty in this country and make everyone convicted trade all their guns for glocks.just a thought. swabjocky

That's it!

HK USP's are overly large, blocky, designed by commitee (hmm, lets put a Glock and a Sig together and let's slap our name on it), overpriced polymer guns for wannabe spec operators who play too much Rogue Spear. Most USP shooters at the range seem to be college-age kids who say "cool" a lot.

Sig pistols have gouges and chips on the rail and the factory says its normal?! (Hey. Thats superb engineering. :D) And at $700 plus a pop SigSauer still can't come up with a decent finish?!

1911's have to be worked on extensively before most of its owners deem it "combat ready" and its a brick of a gun that only holds 7-8 rounds. And if you wanna field strip it make sure you don't lose that bushing wrench!

Glocks: Their owners love LOVE their Glocks. No other brand can compare in terms of customer loyalty and rabid following. Police officers around this country who really depend on their equipment have been very pleased with their Glocks and see no reason to switch. The FBI and other federal agencies who seem to have lots of money for guns chose......Glocks.
Or.......Gaston Glock is a brilliant con man and has managed to foil a shoddy piece of #$%@ on all of us for all these years!

Got my nomex suit on too. Shoot and scoot! I'm outta here.:D
