I am so sick of it...

My first handgun was a Heritage Arms single action .22. I even bought a leather holster from Tiajuana, all with money I earned chopping cotton at 14 years of age. PBP Even though I enjoy your posts you are a gun snob;). I enjoy hearing the young folks brag about their guns, it's what keeps the Second Ammendment alive. Also I've seen pictures of your collection, mines bigger:). Keep posting and God Bless America.

Some people just save their money to buy what they want. I bought my first gun in the "good ole days" and it was a Colt 70 series (no such thing as the 80 at the time :)" Gold Cup. My 2nd was a Colt Python.

Didn't have a lot of money back then, but it was worth it to me to save and buy quality.

My 1st was a H&R 923 9 shot my dad bought me for $15 off of a flea market table. My 2nd one was a Marlin .22 with the squirrel carved into the stock that I bought myself ironically at the same flea market but is cost me $25 of hard earned allowance.

I still bring them out from time to time to knock over a few pop cans. :p

What can I say, I had good taste from the get go.

I wanted a Colt Diamondback 22 and I got one. My dad got one at the same time. Of course that was back when they were not overpriced.

Dont worry, my 170$ ruger MKI made me truly appreciate even my SIGMA. Now I realize it's ok to SAVE money to get a BETTER gun, not just buy whatever junk I can afford.

Hey, easy PBP. My first pistol was a RIA GI 1911 for 280 bucks! I knew not to go the Jennings/Hi-point route, so I bought the cheapest gun that I thought would be worth a crap. Turns out it was worth a crap (and much more). Ran it for 1k rounds and sold it for more than I paid. Wish I hadn't sold it though :(. I started out fairly cheap, don't be hating on me for not starting out at the bottom ;)

Sorry PBP...some people (seems like lots of them on here) just have more discriminating tastes from the get-go.

Mine was a Beretta PX4...not expecially proud of it now, but at least it was a better choice than a Hi-Point....or a Cobra....or a Glock:D

Just for the record...my start at the bottom wasn't totally out of ignorance, I was just underage and basically had to get what I could from my friend's older brothers. Then when I was around 18 or 19 and my parents were ok with me having pistols I got a little more choosey. By the time I was 21 and legal, I actually had a collection of some pretty decent pistols. (Sig, Glock, Smith, Ruger, etc.)

My first gun was almost a hi point, but then I asked around and everyone I talked to said something like" thats a decent gun but....." So I got an Xd which was a great starter gun. I remember drooling over a couple guns when I first started but just didn't have the cash for them. The guys that go for the nicer guns as their beginner gun usually don't build up a collection. I think what happens for most of us is we start off small and move up in guns creating a collection as we go. By the time we get to the gun we wanted to begin with, there are like six more we want. That is how the Playboy Penguins of the world are created......

Just some random thoughts

First handgun I've bought was a HK USP Tactical. Saved for 6 years to be able to afford it. Sure during that time I could've just said forget it and bought a cheaper Sig or 1911 or anything else out there to play with, but the USP was well worth the $1200 I spent on it and I'm glad I waited. I hope 6 years of no gun is worth enough shatty guns for me to enjoy my HK. :D:cool::)

First handgun was a CZ-52 that cost me $120. It's a good gun and I still have it. It was joined less than a year later by a Walther PP, and within another year a CZ-75 and S&W M28 had joined the mix.

Gyvel, before you sell that old .45 be sure to grind the eagle off the top of the receiver.

LOLLL I KNEW somebody would get it.

PbP - must of got up on wrong side of the bed, never seen you so perturbed, you were even cool with your FFl problem in witch I would not of blame you for blowing a gasket. If it makes things better, none of mine are over $500 ;)

First gun; some cheap West German (Speco?) 22LR. My dad bought this for me one Christmas. In was solid gold in my eyes; 40 years later I still have it but it's wornout and will no longer shoot.
