Hunting dog names

Jd, I think I have under one year combined time since I was 2 that I had no large dogs in my life and always it was a house dog. Of the 3 indoor dogs we have now, one is mine and one belongs to momma. Both sleep IN the bed... By in I mean under the blankets and all. I don't like mine on top too much as it shorts me on covers. I just lift the blankets and say "under" and my Rosie Red will get up from where ever she was on the bed and head right under curling into a little ball usually...

G'day, as I went to bed last night, the best hunting dog name came to me. I think it would suit any dog. Picture this, you are out hunting with a couple of mates. Each one of you are calling your dogs, and you have the best dog name ever given. So you call, as loud as you can. In the distance you can hear the dogs barking, so you continue to call your dog. Your mates become jellos of you because they never thought of this name for any of their dogs. The name is so obvious that I am upset at myself for not thinking of it until now. You can say it once, twice, even three times. It rolls off the tongue, can be said softly, or yelled at the top of your voice and repeated as often as you need. You would probably call him just because you like the sound of his name.
'WOOF' it has such a nice ring to it. Woof woof, Woof, Woof, Woof, Woof woof, Woof. Woof, Woof, Woof, Woof woof, Woof, Woof woof,

I had a Golden retriever named brandy and a German Shepard name cognac, when i was younger. when me and the midget move in together we are getting a dog, but knowing her affinity for animals it will be 4-5 in a few years. I want a German Shepard named henny (Hennessey-Cognac was my dog:()

i always like greek god names, my parents (dad and sm)now have 2 great danes name appollo and athena. and ma has a deaf Amer Bull dog named daisy.

Artemis-Goddess of the hunt and wild things, and also the moon. Protector of the dewy young. She became associated with the moon. Apollo is her twin brother. Artemis is a virgin goddess. Her symbols are the bow, dogs, and deer.

OJ, how are they at retrieving? I'm thinking about birds and swamps.

Honestly, are those English Bull Mastiff's?

Actually, they are English Mastiffs - no Bull ;) That's a smaller breed. as for retrieving, they are good with food retrieving - and stuffed animals -

While not traditionally a huntin dog, we named our boxer/pit Noodle. Happened to be driving by a Noodles & Co. about 3 weeks after we got her and the "s" was burned out on the sign. My fiancee said it in jest, and the longer we had her (the pup) the more it fit. So....we now have Noodle!

I had a friend who named his dog 'bastard'. It sounded hilarious in the field.

Well it's gramatically & legally correct.

Our guy, on rare occasions, gets referred to as our "SOB" which is not derogotary but again, legally and gramatically correct - as it is when his sister picks on him (yep - even though she's only 205# and he's 249# - she does get snippy with him at times and he's too mellow to retaliate - then - he just waits and gets even) she lives up to her legal sex designation of the "B" word - not considered a bad word on dog forums any more than mare is on horse forums.

:D

I like Gunner!! How about Trigger?:

I like Trigger, too. "Magnum" is a good one also.

"Bolt" would be a good...as well as "Bullet", except going outside and hollering "Here, Bullet!" just might be a bad thing.
