How do you guys stop buying guns?

Yes, that hole in the water into which money is thrown, called a boat.

Totally irresponsible waste of fiscal resources, you should go back to guns immediately.

I keep hearing of people losing their entire gun collection when their boat sinks. There seems to be some type of correlation between boat & firearm ownership and the chance of the boat sinking with your firearms on it. As such, if you want to keep your gun collection, do not buy a boat. :)

There's a reason we've re-defined the term B.O.A.T.-Break Out Another Thousand. And repairs are tallied in "BOAT Units." As in, "Replacing my radar only cost 4 boat units."

So this is my argument: Guns are way cheaper than the boat, dear!

A wise man once said, "The most expensive hobby is collecting ex-wives".

This was a guy who was so well-off that he collected full size locomotives.

Baddarryl, I hope you are not like the dude who wrote a reply to another poster, a few weeks ago, when he said something like, "my wife said I can't own too many guns then I said, you're right, I can't own too many guns and that's when the trouble started". Or, like the guy who said, "my wife said she would leave me if I buy another gun. Boy, I sure will miss her".

I don't think you have a problem. If your wife complains and asks why you bought another gun, just say, because it was on sale. She should be able to relate to that.

LOL I've used this explanation with EVERY gun I've EVER purchased!

I enjoyed gun buying as a hobby for many years. Then I got transferred to England and had to inventory, clean, oil, prepare for storage, pack and move every last one of the damn things.

That drove home the lesson that I had too many. I'm now culling the herd and selling off the "good deal" guns, duplicates and projects I'll never get around to. I still buy one or two a year now, but it has to be something truly special, not just another passing fancy like in the old days.

Figure out the ones you have.

"Beware the man who owns 1 gun, he probably shoots it well"

When I get the urge to buy a new gun, I just review the guns I currently own and then make a list of which ones are due for load development and sighting in at 100,200,300 yards.
I have several guns that I have never really figured out.

So when I start thinking about the things I have to do with the stuff I own - it kind of cools my jets on getting another gun.

Find a different hobby. I haven't purchased a gun in about 3 months, which is a record for me. I started buying mechanical watches to work on. It doesn't save a dime. In fact, I think it may be an even more expensive hobby. Crap! :o
Yep, I'm about -700 for the month on mechanical/auto watches. Shoot, that would be a nice H&K

Always shopped and bought (Top Shelf) weaponry going thru life. Nearing my end. I have no interest in owning CNC or plastic & graphite clone injected what ever's.

outside of 22s I have cut WAY back and I don't have much desire to increase my centerfires. It was just foolish to have guns I didn't shoot, didn't have ammo for, planned on modifying when I knew I wouldn't have tools/resources for years.

Move a lot. You start to think about all the "stuff" you acquire. Unless .gov is footing the bill for your move.
