How do you carry your spare mag for CCW?

I have a Glock 23 and would like to have an extra mag with me when I carry concealed. What do you use to carry your spare magazine?

I carry a 1911 and use one of these mag carriers-

Brian has made a number of pieces of equipment for me and his stuff is top notch.

I'd been carrying a single extra mag in my left front pocket... for like more than three years now. Wanted to get a mag carrier... but couldn't justify the $30-$40 for a proper leather one.

Found one of the ultra-cheap plastic ones made by Glock... and snagged it from a used bin for six bucks.

Works like a champ.

Strange being how much we spend on guns and holsters and a $30-$40 mag pouch is too expensive? As they say to each there own

I can't imagine a believable scenario where I'd need a second clip for a G23 so I don't bother. I have carried a spare quick reloader for a 5-shot revolver loose in the pocket though.

What will you do if by chance you have magazine issues and no spare? Round gets jammed in the mag, no feed, no good. Just a thought.

Off side, 9 o'clock, 2 mag carrier, one magazine and a folding knife.

If I carry a revolver, I just toss it in my right parka pocket and a speed loader in the left pocket.

For those of you who carry in your pocket, do you use a pocket carrier or just loose? Seems like lint could cause a problem if it's loose, but I have no clue...

TBH I have one revolver an Armscor 206 with a bobbed hammer that I just toss loose in my parka when It gets really nasty outside. I still carry my RIA CS or a S&W 469 under the parka though.

I always carry an extra mag, not so much for the extra rounds but for that small chance that I might have a pistol, mag or ammo malfunction. Almost all malfunctions can be cured by a new mag and simple clearance procedures. I usually carry IWB on the right at 0400 for my carry pistol and I have an IWB single mag pouch on the left at 0800. It feels balanced when I carry. I have tried a number of single OWB mag pouches but just prefer the IWB. Good luck.

long answer to a short shot

For me, it's a mental roadblock that isn't about the bottom line, it's about the value in the product. I will fully admit that I will often not get myself to the point of satisfaction simply because of that roadblock.

Example-- hand me a $40 mag carrier crafted by hand from leather... don't charge me for it, just GIVE it to me. I strap it on and wear it for two weeks, I probably fall in love with it. You then tell me that you want $50 for it, even though it's only $40 and I give you a hundred bucks as ask for two of them.

You may look at this as if I have some kind of problem. In fact... I don't. It's just me being me, and I'm happy about it, even if it causes me grief in some instances.

Another good example... that $35 (or whatever price) set of three plastic shell sorter trays. You know... dump mixed brass in the first one, shake out the small crap and big ones are left in it. Shake the fallout in the second tray and the tiniest are dumped free and all your .40 cal based shells remain... shake the last one and the 9mm and .380 dumps free leaving you with the .38-based stuff.

Those stupid plastic trays would save me a helluva lot of time as I sort silly amounts of brass. But I can't get myself to buy them. Thirty five bucks... can almost find that in change between the car, couch and dresser in the bedroom, eh?

Sorry -- I can't force myself to spend thirty five bucks on three cheap plastic trays when I can do the work myself.

Seems to me that the kind of folks that throw money quickly at different items like the ones we are talking about are the same multiple dozens of guys who claim to have boxes full of holsters they bought and never use... same guys that have been through 15 guns to find a carry gun... same guys who have owned every brand and been disappointed by so many of them, etc etc etc.

Keep doing what y'all are doing, it makes the world go 'round. I'll keep doing things my way. This SIX BUCKS I spent on a cheap Glock mag carrier will absolutely get me a quicker reload in a "tactical" situation (can't believe I used that stupid word) but in the REAL world, it simply made my left leg a little more comfortable and gave my car keys a little more room in my pocket.

The last three years weren't a total loss. And I'm glad I never caved and dropped forty bucks on a mag carrier that I may not have liked.

Like other I see no reason to carry . If their a problem I doubt you will have time to fish out a extra mag and change when most of time you will be 10' or less in SD . Rember this is SD and will be over quick. Police get in to running gun battles I don't.

Old knife sheath leather or nylon for autos and old cell phone holders for revolvers. Just laying around the house might as well put them to use.

I carry it loose. I have been tempted by the pocket holders, but never bought one.

Lint is an issue easily dealt with. Look at the mag and blow and/or wipe it off when you take it out of your pocket every evening, unload it for a more thorough cleaning every week or two, and you won't have a problem. Most pistols aren't that sensitive; methinks lack of sensitivity to such problems is a reasonable criteria for selection of an EDC.
