Hillary is Running

Hillary has thrown her hat in the ring. Personally, I think the Dems will do better with Obama because Hillary is too polarizing. Interesting note: George Soros has already donated to Obama, and other key players are moving to his camp. Hillary was losing $$ and decided to jump in NOW. The GOP faces a real threat from Obama, but not so with Hillary.

I'm afraid the Dem establishment will pick Hillary over Obama (yes, Primaries ARE engineered, imho).

Hillary ticks off republicans, and right wing nuts.

Hillary ticks off democrats, moderates, wing voters, and left wing nuts who want Obama instead of her.

She appeals to NO ONE other than a small base of voters; not enough to win a national election.

Ah, politics as usual: an exercise in mediocrity and "busniness as usual".

Don't let fear of her winning the presidency goad you into falling into the trap of "voting for the lesser of two evils"

The democrats and republicans have failed. It's time for a change.

For the most part, Americans don't like to elect Senators to the position of President. The much prefer candidates who have actually *run* something like a state or a large city. To date, only two U.S. Senators have moved directly to the White House from the Senate, Harding and Kennedy.

Not that I'll vote for a Democrat, but the dems would have a better chance with Gov. Bill Richardson, D-N.M. as their candidate than either Obama or Clinton.

BTW, Richardson just threw his hat into the ring today. He was endorsed by the NRA/PVF in the last governor's election in November 2006. We could do worse...

OK, there are several problems for Hillary.

1. This country has been (in 2008) under a Clinton or Bush for 20 years. The people want a change.
2. The general rule about Hillary that I have seen is that the more people know about her, the less they like her.
3. As shamus005 said, nobody really likes her except for a small number of people. People will support her in the polls, but will probably not support her at the ballot box, especialy once the debates start.
4. She has no real leadership credentials, as metioned before, the only thing she has done is be the First lady and a senator. She hasn't really done much in either of those positions that will really help her and there is alot there that will hurt her.
5. The only reason anyone is paying attention to her is that she is a former first lady and a female.

If we are voting based on gender, then there are many more qualified people to do the job. The former mayor of my town, Pat Owens, would make a better cannidate than Hillary IMHO. In 1997, Grand Forks was completly flooded. 50,000 people, myself included, evacuated on VERY short notice, a few hours for my family. Tens of thousands of other people in the country evacuated to high ground.

It was about as SHTF as you could realisticly get. Pile as much as you could into the car and get the hell out of town. Pat Owens was able to get things organised and get the recovery effort underway very quickly. I may not have agreed with her on everything, but she and those around her could get things done with what was available. She was a leader in a time of crisis. It is people like that that are, or at least should be, elected to higher office. We need leaders and not politicians.

I completely agree. Both of those parties are statist and constantly pushing for bigger government. They do it in different ways, but in the end it's always the citizens who take it up the wazoo.

Every vote for a Republican or a Democrat is a vote for the status quo and a blow to the Bill of Rights. At best, it's the difference between voting for a slow death or a quick death. And why ANY gun owner would fail to vote for a genuinely pro-gun candidate (i.e., a Libertarian) is beyond me. We're well on our way to a police state in this country, and the Republicans are certainly not helping.

There is one exception to the above, though: Ron Paul. If he gets the Republican nomination, then I'll vote for him in a heartbeat. But of course it's not likely that he'll be nominated, since candidates are carefully vetted nowadays to make sure they think of the Constitution as nothing more than a piece of dirty old parchment.

What If They Had An Election An Nobody Voted?

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Now do you understand ?? She was using her NY senator position only as a stepping stone to run for president !!!

Now do you understand ?? She was using her NY senator position only as a stepping stone to run for president !!!

This and hanging onto the coat tails of her husband to rise to power. I have heard stories in the newspapers that Hillary does not have the support of the Democrats for the presidentcy. Now that she is in the race, she is going to have to answer tough questions about her campaign finance fraud, and her constant flip flopping on the Iraq war. I highly doubt she'll get past the primaries.

About Pillory Clintoon

heh...perhaps if she even gets CLOSE to the Whitehouse, perhaps she'll bring back the furniture they stole on the way out.
I'm agreeable to the libertarian viewpoint.
I believe that ALL politicians are like used car salesmen, they'll cheat you if you let them.
We've been bullied and had our rights taken away a little at a time for so long now, I think many Americans have forgotten...WE put THEM there and they exist to be a service to us..not the other way around.
I also believe that the congress shouldn't be allowed to vote their own pay raises...that should be OUR job...since we're footing the bill.
just my 2 cents

Man CAN fly, sadly, its only in one direction.

Hilda beast wants to chat with the American people on the internet with her blog. I say let's give her that chat in masse. How about that promise to not run for office in 2008 she gave? How about that HMO medical crap, where if you decide you want your own doctor instead of a gov. appointed one for youself, you go to jail? How about the fact that she was a carpet bagger and really just used NYC as a tool for her own uses? How about... never mind. I con go on and on. She want's the opinion of the American people... let's bust this site up real good with a flood of American opinion. Mrs. Clinton needs to find out what we think.

OH no!

I do not think that She will win the general election. She is so polarizing.
I do not like her and she is very political, but I have no doubt that she
will do a better job than Bush. Hate her or not, it is hard to beat Bush in
terms of his fiascos.
I also do not think America is ready for a Black president! Obama may be
very good, but there are still a lot of prejudies and hatred in our country.
We are talking about him in the office, and one of my coworkers said
candidly, that in the booth. most whites will rather vote for a corrupt
dirty white guy rather than a black man!

Feel like I'm walking out in front of the firing line (pun intended!) for this, but...

Last time, I voted for Kerry*.

Chances are, I'll vote for the Democratic nominee this time around, too.

Why? Because I base my choice on more than just one criteria, and because in my opinion, the Democrats are closer to more of them than the Republicans are (although, from the essays of Ron Paul's that I've read, I really do like his thinking, depending on things, I may have to read up).

That said, I wouldn't vote for Hillary Clinton. Ever. I'd prefer to "throw away" my vote on a 3rd party (assumng I don't like the Republican choice) before I'll give it to her.

This country has to do better than what we've got, surely we can find someone who's worthy to occupy the Oval Office who's not a Clinton or a Bush, right? We're not a monarchy yet, are we? I'm utterly appalled by Hillary Clinton (and honestly, I find that Bill Clinton had quite a few good things happen under him), and what she stands for. It has nothing to do with her gender, or to a lesser extent her name, but with the fact that I just don't believe she has anything useful to guide us to.

If the DNC nominates HRC to run, they may as well just save the money and give the election right to the Republicans, anyways. She's amazingly polarizing, mostly disliked, and will do to mobilize an anti-Democratic vote than.. Well, anything. Gah!

She's a pox on the Democratic Party, as would be the Bush name. So help me, if we end up with Jeb Bush v. Hillary Clinton, I'm moving to Canada.

And there you go, a moderate, pragmatic, self-labeled liberal Democratic voter's view.

-gfen.

* - Was Kerry the best choice? Hell no! Do I still think he could've done more than Bush has managed to accomplish? Probably, but really...could he have done worse? Its a rhetorical question, don't answer and ruin the thread.

Would someone set me straight, about something? I was under the impression, that If Kerry wanted to run again, he would automaticlly have the Dem. nomination, since he was nominated before..... Is this True?

goste...

Nope, not true at all. States decide who the delegates to the conventions will be. Some by caucus, most by primary election. In none of those states is there any preference for any prior candidate.

John Kerry, if he's deluded enough to think that more than 3 Dems in the country will vote for him after he ran the worst Presidential campaign most of us can ever remember, with the possible exception of Mike Dukakis, will start with a clean slates and 0 convention votes. Which is where he'll end up, too.

The two major parties have very similar nominating processes. The players are different, the game is pretty much the same. There may be some minor details that differ, but I've been a political junkie for 20 years, and I don't know what they are.

Hillary! Making big government Bigger.

To All Fellow Gunners,

Congressman Ron Paul,(R-TX), has announced his bid for the republican presidential nomination in 2008. As you know he is a staunch supporter of the
Second Amendment. He has in the past openly expressed his disdain for the BATFE and their henchmen-like tactics. He has personally sponsored legislation
on behalf of firearms owners to allow us to buy more firearms and breakdown
government restrictions and regulations on what the government says we can or cannot buy. As some of you may know, he sponsored H.R. 1703, which was a bill
that would abolish the "sporting clause". His belief is that ALL gun laws are
unconstitutional and he will work towards the abolishment of gun laws. Not only is
Congressman Paul an unwaivering supporter of the Second Amendment, but he will work towards returning our country back to a "Bill of Rights Culture". If you look
at the early contenders in both the democratic and republican parties you will find
that every candidate EXCEPT Ron Paul is anti-gun, anti Bill of Rights and at some point or another in their career has voted against our Constitution in some way or another. This is especially true of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and John Edwards. So you see we as gun owners only have but one choice for the Presidency in 2008. We must pull together and support Congressman Paul, hopefully he can muster support from 80,000,000 gun owners. If he could do this, he would win the republican nomination regardless of what the GOP likes or dislikes. Please help him build a war chest like the other contenders. Vote for a republican, more importantly a libertarian. A Bill of Rightest.
A Constitutionalist. I will be donating heavily towards his campaign in the hopes that by doing so I will be ensuring my children and their children the opportunity to own firearms well into the future.

To support Ron Paul
Go to: www.ronpaulexplore.com

Please be advised that this is a cursory website. A more refined and polished
website will be up in a few days.

By the way, Congressman Ron Paul will be running on a platform that goes way beyond the simple preservation of unabridged civilian firearms ownership. He will be running on a platform that will free Americans from the Federal Reserve Bank and the IRS. This is real heavy stuff. Way beyond gun ownership. If Paul is enabled to lead the way he will take us ALL THE WAY! He is a man of his word.
He has a cameo appearance in Aaron Russo's movie, From Freedom to Fascism.
This is a must see movie for EVERYONE! This movie has it's own website and petition. wwwfromfreedomtofascism.com

Well we all saw what Bill Clinton and the Brady bunch did to the gun owners and the gun indusry, must we elect the better half of Bill to help the Brady bunch finish off the 2nd amendment rights of law abiding citizens:confused:

Wolverine,

That smacks of the whole "if you don't support us then you support them" thinking. That's definitely NOT the case. Voting third party is not a vote for the democrats. Please don't make such implications.

Voting for Ron Paul (or any non republican candidate) is NOT endorsement of the dems.
