Has anyone shot a gun and it not be "all that its cracked up to be"?

Can someone please realize the difference between a good gun that has a one off mechanical problem versus one in which the design does not impress?

For me, Sigs with standard triggers. The SRT really helps, but the triggers don't impress me at all. They're always reliable and accurate, but the DA/SA trigger just feels spongy and cheap to me. I'd take a FNP/X, CZ, or Beretta before a Sig any day...

My sister has a Beretta 9mm and I hate it. It seems to be a really accurate but the tigger is horrible. You've got to pull it for what seems like forever and it feels way to heavy. I had to pull the trigger halfway back, and then aim.

There has been a few firearms that left me with an overwhelming feeling of "meh." The biggest one that just doesn't do much for me but seems to really like by alot of people is the AR-15 platform.

I have tried numerous times to like the AR but it just doesn't do anything for me. However, I have discovered that (ironically) a collapsible AR-style stock is my favorite stock for the AK.

H&K P2000. Did not like the trigger, mag release, and when breaking down for cleaning, it seemed unnecessarily complex and fragile.

HK USP's. Yeah, its reliable but so is my significatly cheaper CZ-75 (CZ has better ergo's as well) Why does this cost so much again??

Anything from Glock. I'm the worst when it comes to judging pistol's by how they feel in your hand.
They don't point right for me (always high due to messed up grip angle) the trigger is "mushy" I hate the sights and the lack of a external safety.
There is nothing I like about Glocks except the price. It is hands down the most over-hyped gun on the market.

(Just my honest opinion)

Glocks - My father had a number of them. I shot it OK, I just could never come to like them.
T/C Contender - Back when I was shooting Hunter's Pistol Silhouette (early 80s), it was the go to gun. The only thing about it I really liked was the trigger. I could never find a grip I liked. The trigger guard would whack my finger under recoil. I went back to the Dan Wesson Revolver.

GLock.

A friend of mine got one of the compact .45s, I forget the model number. He got it on Friday, we went to the range Saturday, put a couple hundred rounds through it.

Now, we are both experienced shooters, between us we own somewhere over 50 handguns (now that I think on it, well over). The Glock "safety" wasn't an issue (although I don't consider it a safety, I feel its a trigger activation switch). The awkward feel of the grip wasn't a big issue. The trigger "slap" back against the finger wasn't a big issue. We even had a couple of jams, again, not a big issue, as we understand new guns often need a work in (even though the GLock has the reputation of eating everything all the time right out of the box).

What bothered us the most was the trigger was not consistant. Each shot, the trigger pull was different. And not repeatable. One shot would be fairly light, the next heavy, the next very heavy, then a medium feel, then heavy, then light, all at random. In a word, inconsistant. Mechanical accuracy of the gun was adequate, but shootable accuracy was poor, due to the constantly changing trigger pull.

He took the gun back to the dealer on Monday. The dealer had warned him, that he wouldn't be happy with the GLock before he got it. And he was right. The dealer gladly took the gun back, and gave him credit (used gun value) against his next purchace.

As far as I'm concerned, they aren't the best guns I've ever handled or shot (and I have had a few other experiences with them, although none quite that bad) and I don't see what all the hype is about. Personally, the ad slogan "Glock perfection" just rubs me the wrong way. They may be the perfect GLock, but the GLock isn't perfect.

Hmmm! Have to think hard on this one!

I have been a shooter for a long time and have my favorite calibers - they are 22LR - 221 Fireball -.223 Rem - .243 win - 6.5x55 Krag - 35 Rem. The #1 favorite is .357 mag/38 ;)

My experience as a shooter is only limited due to the fact I generally stick to the ammo I know and feel comfy with.

I mostly shoot handguns these days mostly my eyes are not what they used to be. A pistol has a long eye relief when using iron sights. My favorite is the Thompson Center Contender. Yea - It's a single shot - and if I don't drop the critter on the first shot it's unlikely I'll get another! even with an auto loader.

Now to my opinion - you know everyone has one ;)
My picks as the worst I have ever fired! Just remember these are supposed to be high quality firearms.

Big bores - that would be a the actual Colt 1911's - Have I actually made it through a magazine without a jam or being horribly inaccurate - many other made a good ones but, the actual Colts were ****.

Small bore - That would be the S&W 22A - I personally hate the lovely shooter - Well, I'm a bit biased about this one because I'm a lefty - never fired a more unfriendly to left handed shooter!!!

There have been several through the years:

Steyr M9 A1 I liked it but when Used in IDPA it was just OK, something wrong with the way the pieces came together for me.

CZ75 I have always been underwhelmed by their stock offerings, but I love their custom shop guns.

Glocks have never loved, with the exception of the G34. Found the G 27 very beefy and uncomfortable. Triggers are meh.

Walther P22 more disappointed by the brand on that one than the actual hype, which I don't recall.

Rugers mk.. Wait, what? I need a what? A mallet?

Several high end 1911's. Why pay so much for a FTE when you can just buy a Taurus and get annoyed on the cheap?

So many S&W I don't even want to think about it.

Biggest disappointment?..........1911 platform. No particular brand/model, I've shot several and all of them have just left me going......meh. I think they're amazingly beautiful firearms and I've always wanted so badly to be one of the 1911 faithful, but they just don't do it for me; I don't really know why.

Others though, basically any glock or glock clone that I've shot. To me they are just tools, they have no feeling or cool factor  in my eyes. Same thing with every AR15 or M4 platform I've held/fired, they just don't have any endearing qualities to me. Nothing wrong with them mechanically, just nothing impressive about them.

Glock.

I'm gonna get some flack for this, but after shooting the Glock23 and Glock17, I wasn't really impressed. It was very basic and no-frills (which is good); it just didn't really impress me - compared to M&P's, XD's, 1911's, and Sigs that I've shot.

Not trying to sound like a philosopher, but a gun is just what it is. What we perceive it to be, is created in our own heads.

The mind hears about something, it automatically creates a concept that isn't experiencially derived. It's a lesson we "learn" many times in our lives. And yet, we never really learn it.

We're really surprised when the real experience doesn't match what we've artificially created in our minds, even though there was never much chance that it would to begin with. We homo sapiens just don't seem to catch on.

OK, I might have been philosophizing a bit. Had a tooth extracted, and sutures--- wonder if the hydrochodone (properly prescribed by my peridontist) could have anything to do with my current wordy perception of the subject. Think I'll get off the key board and just watch a movie. :D Hope it's as good as my preconceived perception. cool::D:cool::)

There are two that I don't care for. The first is the 1911A1 .45acp, and the other is the H & K P7. The 1911A1 just didn't feel right. Good gun, but grip wasn't right for me. I never did get to fire the P7. A friend had it, and it was difficult for me to grip the handle hard enough to reliably cock the striker. It was really stiff. I guess a person with fairly large hands could cock it easily, but I couldn't.
