Has anyone shot a gun and it not be "all that its cracked up to be"?

(The words "Smith and Wesson" and "Quality" are often used together. After shooting these revolvers, I think I'd rather buy a Taurus. At least then, I don't have to pay as much for the lump of crap.)

Walther P22s

Glocks

Kimber 1911s

Sorry it was his wife's P226, fine gun i'm sure, it just didn't agree with me. And when I said turkey slug it was a 3'' mag that knocked me on my butt. It was my first time ever shooting a 12 gauge.

Twiggs199: Welcome to the forum. Don't pay any attention to the
nitpicking. Some people get suspicious when you have a low post
count and the facts don't quite add up. People tend to forget that
everybody had to start somewhere even the supeme beings.

As for the subject matter, I had a Ruger Blackhawk .44 magnum that
would bloody the knuckle of my middle finger on my shooting hand. It
was quite painful to shoot without a glove. I finally sold it and got a
.357 magnum.

All CZ pistols, I like their 22 rifles. The only HK I ever owned was not impressive. The SA XD's did not impress. Most 1911's I've owned left me wondering, but I have had good luck with Kimber and I've especially been impressed with S&W's version.

I've had a few others I didn't care for, but they didn't come with a lot of hype.

A friend's Colt Gold Cup 1911 in 10mm. He paid some godawful price for it and we were at the range and he offered to let me shoot it. Beautiful gun but when I pointed it at the target and pulled the trigger nothing happened. I shifted my hand a little and BOOM. This happened twice in one mag. My hand apparently didn't fit the grip safety properly.
Now,I am a Glock man. You pull the trigger and it shoots, basically everytime. I told him he could keep his Colt and all the redundant safeties. He got a little hot around the collar. I wasn't trying to insult his gun it just didn't fit me.
He wouldn't even touch my G21. AND, I never had to "break in" any Glock.

CZ75 and PCR
Hk USPc, especially the USP...it's a mans gun, looks like all business and it even makes u feel like a man! And I really wanna wield a man gun! IMHO great ideas just doesn't come together really well

I shot a Desert Eagle 50AE. I was expecting a huge kick and a a huge noise when it hit the steel plate. While it let you know it was there the kick was not that bad. As far as the noise when it hit the steel plate, I was very similar to a Ruger load on a 45LC. I was expecting it to be like my BFR 45/70 loaded with lever action level loads. I was a bit disappointed.

RG38,my first revolver.

Felt perfectly weighted, shot nice and sprayed me with enough lead to protect me from gamma rays.

A friends H&R 2 inch barrel super cheapie revolver-the safest place to stand was right in front of it (DO NOT DO THAT PLEASE-)-I could'nt hit a 4x8 piece of plywood with that thing at five yards.

KelTec P-11,not really the guns fault I guess.

I just was'nt ready for the mile long-hard trigger pull and the everywhere it wanted to go on it's own recoil.

It did'nt like me so much it bit my left hand twice when I was stupid enough to try to get a better hold on the little handgun earthquake.

Smith 617 6 inch 10 shot, the perfect 22 LR revolver for someone who really likes shooting 22 LR as much as larger calibers.

Simply a stunning handgun but ,for me,way too much size and weight for such a small caliber round.

Someone got a great deal on that handgun.

Mauser HSC,great little handgun -sculpture-,puked up (stovepiped, feed jammed and I mean JAMMED)more rounds then my cats do hairballs.

I finally had enough of it especially with the robbery price of 380 ammo today and sold it for a loss with full disclosure of it's total refusal to be reliable.

Nice mags too.

I bought two new and both cracked on the back of the lip edges.

High Standard matte nickel plated 22 LR two inch revolver-the end all of - end all guns I ever hated.

Broke right after I bought it or was broke when I bought it but it was the most infuriating piece of cow spladookey I ever owned-gave it away at a gun shop for parts-the only gun that I almost took my sawzall and cut into many-many little pieces.

Even today, when I think of that piece of 'stuff',I remember just how glad I was that it was no longer anywhere near my home or me.

And to think I traded a perfectly working High Standard six shooter 22LR double action revolver cowboy style for that piece of 'congress'.

I didn't care for the ergonomics of a Glock. Now, I have problems with their accuracy. Their just not my cup of tea.

CZ 85.....

LOVED the ergonomics and accuracy, but it would jam/stovepipe/FTE about one or two shots EVERY mag - no matter what mag I used. I changed the recoil springs, mag springs, almost everything that I could do personally. Never got it to function correct.

A friend @ our gun club has a Ruger LCP. He was going to let me & a friend shoot it. We both have very big hands. Neither of us could pull the trigger on that little gun. Our hands wrapped completely around that gun without it firing!

I was completely unimpressed with my friends Springfield 1911. Its the only 1911 I've shot but it was a big let down. I still want one though :D

1. Taurus (yeah, I know, but this was nothing to do with reliability so hush) UL85. I found it extremely uncomfortable to shoot (and I like my DE .50 AE), and very hard to be accurate with.

Totally with ya on that. Had an 85 UL and it worked fine but the ergonomics are awful and felt unnatural, recoil was unpleasant even with standard pressure ammo, and an awful trigger.

A buddy's Mauser K98 and SKS.

Uh...what's all the hype about?

Almost failed to notice that this is in the handgun forum...

Sig P226 and HK USP in .40. They're not bad at all for production pistols, but the hype is undeserved.

I never had anything good to say about Kimber, until I shot an old Clackamus Kimber. Now I just have nothing good to say about NEWER Kimber's.

Yea, I should have been more specific with my post.

Newer Kimbers are crap. Some of the older stuff will make me wet my pants, just by racking that silky-smooth slide. ;)

My Springfield G.I. was a let down. Heavy trigger, poor fit, and only wanted to work with a Wilson mag. I bought a Colt next, and couldn't be happier with it. I don't see too many more Springfields in my future, except for maybe an M1A.
