Got 5 diffrent brands of 9mm here including the 250rd boxes of WWB at River City Gun Exchange, plus they just got a load of ammo in they haven't unpacked. I think they have 380 also

Demand for 10mm is high up here... Lots of 9mm and .40S&W on the shelves, even a decent amount of .45ACP and .380ACP.... But there are currently about 3 boxes of 10mm ammo left in one store here. They want $42 for 50 rds of Remington range junk... Thank God I've got my reloading gear set up and working...

There's always .22lr, both bulk junk and good stuff (CCI, Aguila) on the shelves...

Handgun ammo demand

Where I live all handgun ammo is in short supply. It flys off Wal Mart's shelves as soon as it shows up and the shelves are even bare in the stores that charge prices that are almost highway robbery. I was able to get my .45 practice ammo for the year from Natchez Shooters supplies though. :D Evidently .45 ammo isn't in short supply there.

Regarding handgun ammo in general: I have gotten to where I just don't check on that any more. I reload, hence what I'm in search for is reloading components. And .22 ammo. Primer scarcity concerns me more than handgun ammo scarcity.

Regarding the general scarcity of .380 ammo: Early last year I made the decision to completely phase out .380 from my inventory. Guns, ammo, and those reloading components and dies specific to the caliber. I got rid of it all except for 1 box of LRN bullets that I kept in case I wanted to experiment with them in 9mm. My, what a fortuitous decision that was! :)

Bullets for reloading have also become hard to find, especially 9mm and .45.
Yes and no. Yes, it is hard to find them at a reasonable price, in stock. But if you go online, are willing to pay, and can put up with them being backordered for a while, you can get them. It just takes patience. I'm finding that primers are the limiting factor. Hopefully, between what I have on hand and what I have on order, due in later this month, I'll have enough to last me until this shortage/panic ends.

One thing I have started doing is setting aside the brass throwing bottom feeders and shooting much more .38 Spl. No brass to chase and it lasts forever, easy on the powder, and relatively easy to find bullets for. One of these days I'm going to take up casting.

The big chain stores (Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc.) are still out of a lot of calibers up here in CT. But I've been to 3 gun stores this week and they all had cases of 9mm, .40SW, and 45ACP lining their walls...

.380

I bought a new LCP about 2 weeks ago and I stopped at least once (and often twice) a day at 2 Walmarts, 2 Acadamy Sports, and 2 local gunshops for a solid week before I found any .380.
They always had at least some kind of 9mm and .45. (Though I bought some of those, just in case).

The one I've heard a local shop belly-ache the most about is .380 ACP.

The one I'd most like to find personally is bulk packs of .22 lr. With the price of everything having gone up I find we're shooting through the .22's a lot faster than I'd like.

Read the question - it is the same as asking what is the most popular handgun caliber? The answer is obviously 9mm regardless of your personal preference. I will not even guess which factory handgun cartridge production (for sale to the public) has been reduced the most by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the world economic recession.

No major shortage here that I've seen, few gun stores say it's taking a bit longer to get new shipments than normal, but shelves are not bare.

No major shortage in my area, but the shelves are not full as in the past. Wal Mart still has the best prices for all ammo. The gun stores are rip offs in this area. .40 caliber WWB at Wal Mart $64.50 for 250 rounds the G Mountain store is $114.50. Needless to say I shop Wal Mart

Cant find .380 anywhere and 9mm goes as soon as it hits the shelf. Went to an Academy and they had 1 box of .44 spl and 3 of .44 mag. The most common caliber that I still see at the big stores is .40 s&w. Seems like it takes longer for it to go.

Ammo is short everywhere around Virginia Beach, but 45ACP is impossible. Seriously, if anybody is in the area and knows a place, fill me in.

.357 and .45acp are hard to come by around here, .38 special is readily available. Primers and certain bullets are often hard to find too...

Let me think, .22lr,.380,9mm,.38,.357sig and mag,.40, .45acp,and Colt,.44 sp, .44mag. I do see .25. I do see a pretty good selection at gun shops in my area, but you pay a preminum for it.I even saw a bunch of .380 yesterday.
