Ammo Shortage

Thats jusr why i have been hoarding 9mm for sometime now, local wal-art other day I swear had dust on their ammo shelves, specially 9mm and .45

.380 +1

I have been trying to get .380 ammo since I bought a pistol about three weeks ago. No one in town has any. Cheaper than Dirt in Ft. Worth stays out as well, and Cabelas had 5 boxes of fragmented hollow points which I bought one of, to return the next day and find none. I've called every day and neither Wal-mart or the gun shop have any.

22 bulk seems hard to find as well. CCI stays on the shelf around here though so I'll be alright.

I don't mean to be a prick but in Illinois (of all places) there is ammo everywhere, like tons, the grocery store is stocked, my gun store is stocked, the other gun store is stocked, the only one that is low is Bass Pro Shops, they are out of the 100 round value packs form time to time, walmart has a bunch though.

In the North and Northwest Chicago suburbs ammo at Walmart seems to be in very short supply. I have gone to 4 different Walmarts and their ammo cases where 3/4 empty. I could'nt get any 9mm, or .38 special.

I was in Dicks yesterday and they had lots of .380, 9mm, 40 S&W, and I think 45 ACP. I really didn't notice 45acp because I don't shoot it.

As before, it seems this is another Walmart thread disguised.

local upscale dealer says that orders on all pistol ammo-particularly ball loads are way behind. Fiocchi told him that they are turning out one million rounds per day and still running far behind. His take on 380 is "there is no 380 ammunition in the country."

cci seems adept in keeping rimfires on the shelves and have a history of being able to supply primers during the periodic runs. Right now though, all of the primers seem to be bought up. I recently bought a box of Winchester Western Super x long rifle hollowpoints and encountered a large number of squibs including one that stuck in the barrel of my 8 3/8" model 17. A batch of these i tried a few years ago hand the same problem as did the bulk pack remington golden bullets. I have had maybe one squib from CCI mini mags over many thousands of rounds.

In NC the shortages are being seen mainly in 38 spl and 380 acp.
The very - established shop I work at has had a real problem obtaining .38 spl. lately and has a small supply (a half-dozen cases) of .380. That's more than anyone in the area.
When checking distributors dealer websites, every page denoting 38 ammo just shows '0' in the 'available' column. Disturbing.

We have multiple pallet-loads of 9mm, .40, .45 and .223

I'm going to pick up 1,000 rounds of 9mm PMC in the morning for $8.99/box!! And I don't even like my nines?! Last month, I bought Winchester USA's from the same shop at the same price. You can't beat that!

Alright fine, you guys got me, I was just at the gun store, now i was there a week ago this day, they were stocked. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY GOT ROBBED!!!! Its really bad, my suggestion, try grocery/supermarket stores, you know the ones that sell sporting goods and such. K-Mart, Meijer, Wal-mart. Man, good luck out there guys, lets get through this!!!!!

Seems like a toss up between 308 and 9mm since that is generally what I see everybody at the range with. Its probably documented someplace though perhaps if you look at the sales reports of the big ammo manufactures.

.380 seems to be gone. 2 weeks ago after checking at 3 wal-marts and 2 gun stores, I found 3 boxes of 100 round white box win. bought 2. then got excited and went back for the 3rd and it was gone...

If you see any ammo and you need it buy it NOW .YOU SNOOZ YOU LOOSE :D sales persom at wally world said .ammo delevery verry slow.

Did I miss something? Why are gun stores running low on ammo right now?

At the gun store/range where I shoot near Jersey City, the only 9mm ammo they had left last week was the Winchester white box.

I assumed the reason for this was that a major gun store nearby just closed, and now my range needs to adapt to a double in ammo demand.

I was out at Wal-mart this afternoon expecting to find shelves of .22 ammo.... spring is coming.... Not ... I had to ask for it! It was behind the counter ???? What? Used to be stacked in the isles! Then when I got to the cash register, I was asked if this was pistol ammo! Now that's a first! This is getting to weird. Guess I better start stocking up on .22 too....
