Seems like everyone is back ordered now, so the question of the day is:

What centerfire pistol caliber is in highest demand?

Choose wisely, and if it's not listed, post for that ammo you long for the most.

At the two gun shops and walmarts I frequent, .9mm ammo is almost always on the low end supply wise. Everything else is there, .45, .40, .357...Even those calibers people say you wont be able to find like .357 sig and 10mm....I have noticed that lately .22lr is flying off the shelves as well.

The stores I shop at are low on everything, but the ones that seem to be in highest demand around are would probably be 9mm and 40 S&W

I voted other because in my area they all seem to be in demand. If it's pistol ammo, then it's in demand. Rifle & shotgun not so much.

.380 seems to be the one round NO ONE can find locally here. Academy and Gander Mountain have lots of everything else but they (esp. GM) are overpriced.

I hand load ... so didn't vote. Seem to have enough reloading supplies on hand... .45 Colt is what I most reload FWIW. Oh, .22LR would be the only Factory ammo, and I still see that everywhere.

The question was about "highest demand" but it seems some folks are interpreting that as "in short supply". Those are not the same thing. I think the highest demand is for 9mm, but there is also a pretty good supply and therefore that is not the ammo which is hardest to find. I think the answer to the "short supply and hard to find" ammo question is 380 or 38 or 45. And it seems that 40 is easy to find everywhere.

Can't find many primers anywhere.
I was at a gun show a couple weeks ago and there was plenty of primers. I bought a 1000. Every time I went to our local sporting goods store, they had plenty of primers too. Must be a 'local' thing where you are at.

I haven't seen a box of .45colt in a while now. I even looked at a few places online and they are all out of stock. It makes me very sad :( since I want to shoot my .45colt levergun, my cowboy revolvers, and my S&W Mountaingun more and more these days. I was going to take the mountaingun to the next actionshoot, but I can't till I get more ammo.

I guess I need to get off of my ass and do some reloading. I have most everything set up, but haven't taken the time to load (and I need to find some powder, come to think of it.)

Thanks. I'll try the next gun show I can. I'll be looking for 5000+ primers. Needing small rifle the most now (down to ~500) and the stores around here don't have them.

Another vote for 380 ACP. 9mm, 45 Automatic, and others are in short supply, but 380 is nearly impossible to find. I think this is because of the surge in CCW interest.

I don't mean to be a prick but in Illinois (of all places) there is ammo everywhere, like tons, the grocery store is stocked, my gun store is stocked, the other gun store is stocked, the only one that is low is Bass Pro Shops, they are out of the 100 round value packs form time to time, walmart has a bunch though.

Walmart has some ?

Wow, been to 4 walmarts here in ohio, not one single walmart had anything in 9mm..completly bare.

wow, yeah at mine there is 4 or so boxes of 100 pack 9mm, som blazer brass boxes from a couple of years ago.
