I am happy owning both. The GP100 had to go back for a binding cylinder. The Match Champion had to go back for a new cylinder. The 686 needed an action job and the lock plug installed. I also had the trigger and hammer polished out to match the rest of the gun. I also had the throats reamed to .3575. GP100 wins on appearance.
In their present state the 5" GP100 gets used for full power loads, the Match Champion gets the medium loads, and the 686 has the sweetest trigger for anything I want to feed it. The round butt frame of the S&W and its custom grip get the nod for when I choose to carry something that heavy.
The S&W leads badly while the GP100 is not a problem.
