Goofiest Handgun: Current or Otherwise

IMO the distinguished honor of Goofiest Handgun goes to the GyroJet. Designed for covert operations where the discharge report was undesirable. Ooooo Kaaaaay. Rocket ammo pistol, shoots a spin-stabilized rocket at a target, accuracy was terrible, and the smoke trail to the target made "covert operations" somewhat of a misnomer. And they looked like a stage prop from Buck Rogers. I mean "what were they thinking?" comes up short of what you want to say, more like "HAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahahaha . . . . haha . . . hm".

"Dardick" was close, but I just HAVE to vote for the .455Webley Fosbery "Automatic Revolver".
A firearm so odd it took Shaun Connery in a red thong bikini to make it "hot":D

You doubt me?
Google "Zardoz":barf:

Calico. I love them from a functional point of view, but they look goofy.
Dardick is definitely goofy. I never could get my head around the "WHY" part of the equation.
Sheridan Knocabout. Funny looking single shot .22. Not necessarily a bad one. Just rather Buck Rogers looking.
Desert Eagle .50AE. Why? Because the grip's to damned big at the bottom for me to grip securely/comfortably. And the fact that it doesn't like to be shot left handed. OR maybe it's just not very reliable. Don't know. Just know that it would lock the slide back every shot or two.

I like that Mossberg Brownie copy, er ADC COP. I'd love to have one. I have one of their 45/410 derringers, but really want the cop. After shooting the judge with 410 shells, I don't really want to try the derringer with them. Not fun.
I'll probably do it anyway. Just for grins.

Tho Goofy for sure...

I would buy this Rhino before a Glock.:D

I was gonna vote for the Chiappa Rhino, but that Dardick Pistol definitely has it beat. The rhino just looks weird, but from an engineering standpoint is trying to do something. The Dardick just doesn't make sense to me at all. Triangular bullets? And it's pretty ugly to boot.

Triangular bullets? And it's pretty ugly to boot.
The actual "boolitt tip" is round, it's the "case" that is semi-triangular. Hey, why not? Triangular case in a triangular cylinder that holds 3 shots like a 6-shooter, but feeds from a magazine like a semi-auto. Still about a 9.5 on the "weird-o-meter" though.:D

That picture you linked... I don't know, but I'll guess that goofy pistol goes for like a zillion dollars.

I really, really wanted to show a picture or link to the goofball I'm thinking of, but my search-fu is WEAK! There was an issue of Guns & Ammo back when I was in my formative years in handgunning and they had an article on goofballs. Palm pistols, pen guns, the Dardick, the Gyro-jet, et all.

They also had this "thing", it looked like a tool you might use on a farm. It had a grip like a handgun, two barrels and hammers like a muzzle loading black powder front-stuffer. But also, it had two huge prongs coming out of it, looked like spears or miniature harpoons. They didn't shoot off of the handgun, they were just built in to it. Like you'd stab your prey, then shoot it if it gave you any trouble.

I'd have to actually go to the cave and dig through old magazines to find it. I'm too lazy to do that. But with that limited info, does anyone have the search-fu to find it? I have no name for it, and only my weak description.

If you want goofy, that fit the bill.

The rhino is my bet - I'd like to visit one in person - that might cost me some of the gun fund, fugly or not!!

1. HI point
2. Judge
3. Nambu (thanks for reminding me about this one)
4. Glock (yeah it's a great gun but it looks goofy to me)
Although that Dardick is really weird, bbqncigars posted my vote for single goofiest. I only ranked ones you actually see in gun stores.
Also, IMHO, the Mateba looks pretty cool in the exact way the Rhino wants to but doesn't. Not that I'd like to buy one, just saying

The Borchardt C93 that was referenced earlier is one of the first fairly reliable, moderately easy to produce semi autos ever made and good condition C93's go for several thousand dollars now.

The pistol itself may not be goofy, the the rig itself sure is. I can only imagine asking a gun store clerk where their pistol bayonets are.

I vote for this (Borchardt C-93). It looks like something from a steampunk comic.

Ahhhh, that is a thing of beauty to me. Anytime anyone has a Borchardt C-93 they want to get rid of, PLEASE SEND ME A P.M.!!!
