Ruger Double Action. Redhawk would be nice with 44 Special loads (somewhat hot). I still want to be able to do DA shooting rite quick as well as speedloaders should my opponent be of the two legged variety. I also want tritium night sights on mine.

I'd go for one of these. Dan Wesson Pistol Pack

Still only one revolver, just with a few options!!

I hear they are accurate! Perhaps the mid calibre .357...

Given that the majority of centerfire cartridges didn't really make the scene until 1873, though there are several British calibers on the scene around 1868 .450 Revolver and the .44 Webley/RIC and a couple American cartridges 44 S&W Russian & 44 S&W American (1869 -1870 +-) to name a few and various rim fires.

I would choose the Remington 1858 C&P revolver, knowing spare cylinders could be acquired and later it could be modified to accept a centerfire cartridge.

Anybody read "Guns of the South"?

A novel whose premise it was if, during the American Civil War, the Confederate army was supplied with a small arsenal of AK-47s and Uzis supplied by modern-day South Africa through a time machine. The agents who made delivery set up an ammunition factory. I never finished the book. It just got too weird.

A Dan Wesson 44 Mag could take 44 Special and 44 Russian and the barrel-cylinder gap would not be troubled by black powder because it is adjustable.

Ruger Old Army has muzzle-loading capacity, of course, and the conversion cylinder also available. However, reloading is VERY slow, as the cylinder has to be removed and partially disassembled, not just reloaded through a loading gate.

A Magum Research BFR SA in 45.70GOV, and before you say "it wasn't around then.", the .45.70 govt was adopted by the Govt. in 1873, which meant that it was around shortly before then.:D
BFR .45/70 Gov't Revolver
7.5-Inch Barrel, Stainless Steel

Another vote for the Peacemaker. Although my actual first choice would probably be a Winchester lever action carbine.
