getting a new squirrel gun...

anyone tried EGW's Weaver revolver bases for adjustable sight Ruger revolvers ??? I think I'm going to order one of those bases, then I can put windage adjustable rings on that base & get my scope back to centered, & to point of aim...

I used one similar to that for years on my Redhawk in 44mag. Only it had a clamp that went around the frame just in front of the cylinder.

This one should work out great for you in that your not going to have NEAR the impulse recoil I was getting with the 44.

I've loosely followed along on this project and have to say I would love to have the resources you you have in that friend of yours. I actually sort of do, but neither one of us has the time to sit down under either of his machines and get anything accomplished with everything else we have on our plates.

Anyway wishing you all the best with your loads. I'm setting up right now to load up some cast for my BH in 30 Carbine. If they shoot as well from it as yours have, I will be a VERY happy camper.

Actually thanks for reminding me... I have one of those mounts around here somewhere that I had on my 30 Carbine Blackhawk... ( before I converted it to 45 & made a 2nd cylinder... one in 45 Colt, one in 45 autorim / 45 ACP

So I've still been going through & sorting the cases by length, & uniforming flash holes ( I have nearly 3/8" thick 2" X 3" pile of fresh brass shavings on my RCBS case prep center from uniforming the flash holes on 400 cases worth of Remington brass... so they needed lots of work, but fortunately, that will only have to be done once...

I'm currently thinking about trying to resize some of my 25 caliber rifle bullets from my 257 Special... as far as resizing the 25's... Speer's hot core bullet cores are supposed to be fused to the jacket, so I'm thinking about trying some of the 75 grain 25-20 bullets I have, I'll lube them with moly, & run them through the tapered sizer & see if I can get them to .251 without distorting the bullet like crazy... the 25 ACP barrel is I think 1 in 10 twist, & aught to stabilize a 75 grain bullet...

I'm actually getting ahead of myself here, as the heavier bullets are what I'm looking at for use in a 25 ACP Contender carbine barrel, to add a bit more punch, & stay sub sonic, though if they shot well in both, that would be a great advantage

all this experimenting is great, but I think the great thing about this gun, is the fact that I can shoot factory ammo in it... I'm already liking it enough, that I'm considering doing a 6 shot Single Six just for something smaller & lighter...

Thanks... I'm still currently going through all my R-P brass sorting for lengths & uniforming flash holes...

I actually sold about 1500 Winchester cases to another guy that's going to build a 25 ACP on a Ruger Single Six...

The leaves are starting to fall off the trees, & the squirrels are quickly gathering walnuts... so as soon a the crops are out of the fields, I plan on putting the lil 25 to work thinning the Red Squirrel population... I didn't get them thinned enough last fall, & they had babies like crazy over the summer... seems I've over run with little tree rats right now...:)
