Well I can't speak for anyone else in this thread but I'm neither a Republican or a Democrat, what I am doesn't really have a "Recognized" party affiliation to the best of my knowledge. I'm a Conservative (with some moderate/liberal ideas here or there)
Constitutionalist. Though I vote for whomever isn't a Socialist weasel. I understand what you're driving at about the divison amongst the two recognized/major parties, but it's hard for ppl to come together when one side ultimately wants to keep things simple and the other side wants to poo poo on the very things that make and in some cases MADE the USA great. Sure things could be worse I'll give you that, and we're still the best nation on Earth... Hell I'm willing to die for it if need be, but the fact remains we've got an entire generation of people coming up who know jack squat about their own rights and what the laws on the books are, let alone what happened in our historical past be it US History or World History.
From your profile you're pretty young and from your post seem to not be amongst the condom leak degenerates who think they are "OWED" something and more to the point their freedoms... which they are not. Most of the anti-gun ppl have never spent one day at a rifle range, let alone understand proper gun safety and that one who knows it is far safer to be around than someone who doesn't know a breech from the muzzle. My dad had purchased me a .22 replica of a .30WCF M-94 when I was just six months old, and from the time I was 3 he was right there helping me hold it up @ the 25 yard range. I learned the rudimentary baiscs and gun safety and knew darned good and well what not to do. To listen to some of these bleeding heart liberal new age Communists, that would be bad parenting... only it's not. Today you've got individuals who don't respect their elders, they see them as in the way, they'll go into the military and USE it, then go on TV and bitch when they have to actually serve, while some who want to serve within the sacred vocation of the military are kept out due to red tape. Patriotism is okay as long as one isn't too Patriotic. You can talk about any Religion or religious figure, but don't bring up Jesus Christ. I'm not going to say the conservative right doesn't have it's boneyard of issues, but what's supposed to make the nation great is honor & freedom.
Where's the honor? Freedom sure... but where's the honor? All I see are loser former Hippies who honestly believed they could fornicate and drug their way into a social revolution and change the system, thus showing lack of any understanding of "Revolution" or how the goverment saw them for the slack fisted dirty anti-soldier bastards they were... and now most of them are the system...
BAH! I see fellow 27 year olds and younger who crap on everything. They're more inetersted in getting a perm or doing all manner of GAY activities within the sub male category of "Metrosexual" and couldn't be arsed to do something outdoors. GOD Forbid someone want to go hunting, those guys no doubt admonished for being a MAN when they were a boy have become the guy's afraid of their own shadows, and more often than not subscribe to the far left Communist tom foolery under different banners. They feel Intimidated by you or I who've never broken a law (save Traffic Tickets I'm sure), pay our taxes and more; having our 2nd Amendment Rights which is there for those losers as well, only they'd gladly sell the very nation you and I obviously love so well and want to see flourish as it's meant to, right down the toilet only they don't realize it.
Thus with two diametrically opposed sides I don't see how things will ever get better. It's basically left up to the individuals who make up the body to decide for themselves whether they're going to be a limp handed jocko boy bleeing heart, or something closer to the traditional American male. But heck, most were raised to be dependent and can't see the woods for the trees anyhow. But I don't lose sleep over it, it just upsets me. Next time you're at the mall listen to some of the dreck that comes out your average 16-30 year old's mouths. They're too busy playing patty cake to understand what a man's job is all about, nor have understanding of the foundations of the USA, and this is coming from a super mixed/interracial minority saying this who's never bitched he was kept down by THE MAN, or anyone else.
It will be interesting to see where everything goes in the upcomming elections, though a ways off still. Shoot the first thread I walked into on this these boards and already I feel at home with such subject matter.
