"Fun" Guns in Your Collection

What are some of the guns in your collection that were purchased simply for recreation?

Don't include your EDC and home defense guns. They are fun to shoot BUT serve a more practical purpose. List some of your "range toys."

We pulled into Haifa, Israel for a month to do repairs on the ship and I hit it off with an IDF guy He was able to get me two semi-auto Galils, one folding stocked and one wood with a scope. Their both my plinker guns, just for fun.

All of my guns serve a purpose. Anything from hunting to HD/SD to recreation shooting. All my guns are fun guns. I use to have a intratech DC9 also known as the tech 9 that was a fun controversial piece. But it got to where it didnt have a place in my colection and grew out of wantin to own a "ghetto buster" gun as my dad use to call it. And I had no real purpose for it. Buddy offered me a good price on it and it left my collection.

Here are some of the guns I bought "just for fun." Some would make great carry/defense guns BUT that's not why I bought them.

SA 1911 Mil Spec Stainless .45acp
•You just kind of "have to" own a 1911. They are very accurate and fun to shoot. Personally, I find them to big and/or heavy for EDC but can't thing of a more accurate or iconic .45acp range gun.

Ruger 5.5" Redhawk .44magnum
•If I was an outdoorsy type, I could imagine no better revolver for wilderness survival and hiking through the forest. However, I use mine to make alot of noise and start-up small talk. (It AMAZES me how few people have actually shot a .44magnum revolver.)

Both of my .22lr Firearms
•Ruger 22/45 and GSG-5 Carbine. Yeah the CAN be used for inexpensive training. I like to blast tons of cheap ammo really quickly instead. Plinking with a .22lr gun is some of the most fun you can have at the range.

Ruger New Vaquero Stainless .357magnum
•I am not a cowboy. I don't dress like one. I don't like country music. The last time I rode a horse was when I was kid at a carnival. However, I just really shooting a fancy cowboy revolver.

Masterpiece Arms Defender 9mm (MAC clone)
•It is a well made inexpensive gun that let's you blast a ton of ammo quickly. It has 35rd magazine and can be dumped insanely fast. Be careful of muzzle climb and you'll smile so big that you won't even care that you shot $8 worth of ammo in under a minute.

Sig 556 Classic
• I don't hunt or live in the country or a war zone. I live in the suburbs where firing a rifle cartridge (even for self defense) probably isn't the best idea. One missed shot and congrats....you shot through the whole house and possibly into the neighbors too. Best suited for the range and "just in case" the zombies arrive and get past the security gates.

Just about every one except my Browning medallion in 270 and my mossberg 500 persuader. That includes my styer m95, polish m44, russian m91/30, swedish m96, chinese military sks, and my romanian akm .n 7.62x39mm.

My Buckmark, Bearcat and my NAA 22S were fun guns.

Yes, they could be used for SD but primarily for fun (competition is fun). The Buckmark is for steel matches.

Intratec Tec-9M.

I originally got it because I thought it would be banned and the price would go up on it.

It did get banned and the price did go up on it, but I never got around to selling it.

I got one of the better built models, before QC at the factory started going to pot... so the thing feeds FMJ reliably and fires reliably, and it's a lot more accurate than I would have expected. The magwell acts as a verticle foregrip and holding it that way I can create 3" groups with it at 25'

I NEVER expected to be able to do that. I had a friend who bought the Tec-9, which has a longer barrel, and his gun was horrible.

I just never got around to selling it. And now when I bring it to the range it's a conversation peice, especially when I make a 3" shot group with it.

I think I got my Glock for a fun gun... I'm going to be buying stuff like LWD barrels, G17 slide, CCF frame and stuff - just for the fun of building something different.

STI Spartan 9pm
Ruger Mark II .22
Two SW K-frame .22s
Colt Diamondback .22

Others arguably could be used for dual purposes. The Spartan could be for self-defense but I use it strictly as a range gun.

If i like a particular pistol i will get at least 3 examples of it. One for serious stuff, one for fun and one brand new example as a stand in that hopefully never gets called to duty.

C series Hi Power. Mint condition.

Ruger mk 2 with integral suppressor. Perfect.

Cz 75B love them.

Colt Series 70 with a huge suppressor with Nielsen device.

Colt Python. What a sexy gun.

Norinco custom 1911. This full house beauty exists only to make me look good at competitions. What a gun. I actually built an exact copy of this pistol because i love it so much.

SandS 44 MAG single action.

All my guns get shot for function testing. They then get assigned to their respective 'duties' to keep me happy and smiling :-).

Ruger .30 Blackhawk. About the most impractical revolver ever, but it's a lot of fun to shoot -- with really good ear protection.

Zastava Tokarev M57 7.62x25mm pistol... Hoot to shoot... Loud fire-breathing dragon... accurate... zippy... "poor man's 1911"... fun!

Call me crazy, but it don't get much funner than the mighty sigma!

I think it will do a million rounds, it just keeps going! LOL!;)

Taurus Judge

I bought a BFR 45/70 origionally as a toy but it has turned out to be a good hunting hand gun with some hand loads.

Just off the top of my head... Desert Eagle .44 mag, big and heavy but fun as hell to shoot. Winchester 62 .22 pump (1909), Bearcat, Stengun from a kit...all fun guns pretty much.

Marlin 17hMr,Ruger all weather 22mag, just for fun & critters.AR 15,SAGIA 308 Well I guess all of mine are for REC,& FUN:D:D Ruger single six, ruger m/2 ,SRH ,GLOCK IN GENERAL:D

Good question.
1.Beretta Storm carbine with aim point. Fun to shoot, good accuracy out to 100 yards and with an Aim point great for practicing target acquisition, fast. Cheep to shoot. Recreation

2.Semi auto HK MP5. MP5 what more can you say. Just wish I was rich enough to have a full auto. Recreation

3.HK SL-8. Good and bad point is that this is one gun if you take to a range you will get a lot of people stopping by asking all kinds of questions. I actually had one guy ask if it was a tricked out Hi point carbine. Great trigger, absolutely flawless operation, great integrated HK optics and extremely accurate. Recreation and range gun in 223.

4.All of my cap and ball revolvers. Smoke and balls, it doesn’t get any better than that.
5.M1 Grand. To be able to shoot the gun that my father carried onto the Normandy beach in 44 just makes me feel good. I just wish somehow it was the actually rifle he carried.
6.Browning 32 auto taken off a German outside Dachau. Ok maybe not recreation but the historical factor makes it a very special gun.

My main fun gun is the Taurus 740 Slim. Trying to shoot that thing straight keeps me always on my toes.

My Walther PPS9 is the most accurate of all my guns and is a pleasure to shoot.

The Kimber Pro CDP is always fun to drill With, single action makes for fast, accurate first shots.
