Wow. Tough choices. I wish we could vote for more than one. I REALLY REALLY like my Gen 2 Glock 19, Walther PPQ, and HK VP9. I have not voted yet and will have to think about it for a while and may not come up with a favorite.

I would have said my Glock 23 because I like the flexibility of 40/9mm/357 Sig. But I love the shootability of the Glock 17.

Though I have become quite enamored by my Glock 19 MOS, too.

My Glock 23 CAA Micro Roni Stab is quite fun, also. I also enjoy my S&W M&P 9mm.

The XD is generally a better gun, with a better trigger. Some models can be wide or not grippy enough.

The Glock is great too and a bit narrow, but suffer from lack of grip and poorer trigger.

I have both with deficiencies tuned out.

Is the poll to aid in a future purchae decision OP? If it is, every one of the firearms you listed is an excellent choice and you need to try and get a hold of a few of them to see how they feel. If the poll is just for the heck of it, out of the ones on the list that I have fired give me the Glock 19.

From the choices in the poll, I'll go with either the P320 or VP9. But personally, my three favorites are:
1. CZ 100
2. Steyr C9-A1
3. FNS-9

M&P

My favorite is the M&P. I have owned about 4 different models of Glocks and just couldn't get to like them. Didn't like the grip, and I didn't shoot them particularly well. I don't own any of them anymore.

I used to own an M&P .40 which I liked quite a bit. At the time, I foolishly sold it to fund a different firearm as I was getting out of 40 caliber. I will probably buy another one at some point.

I have also shot a friends Springfield XDM. It was a decent pistol but I didn't fire enough rounds through it to make an accurate assessment.

You are right that they are all excellent pistols, but I am wondering what everyone's preference is.

YES ! one of the HK P7s . PSP, M8 , M10 .
And it even supplies humor as when the RO says "drop the hammer " "it has no hammer " " drop the hammer anyway "

I shoot the VP9 so much better than the 19/17 it's not much of a comparison at all to me. I really like the PPQ as well just don't have anywhere enough rounds through several to say it's a better pistol than the HK. Never even shot a 320 but they are getting a lot of press as of late.

I own 2 striker-fired pistols and they are both P320s. They point very naturally for me and are very comfortable to shoot.

I have had the opportunity to shoot a Walther P99 but not the PPQ as yet. The P99 was a nice pistol.

I also shot a HK VP9. Nice pistol but it did a number on my trigger finger, and I didn't shoot it as well as the P320.

I don't do Glocks. Yes I have shot them but they are not comfortable and do not point naturally for me.

I haven't shot the FNS 9 but I did shoot a FNS 40 and thought it was a pretty decent pistol.

I got turned off on M&Ps years ago when I shot one and thought it had a crappier trigger than a Glock, which sort of impressed me in a negative sort of way. I understand that they have improved the triggers so I should probably give one a try.

All of the Springfield XDs I have had the chance to shoot shot well.

I have only been able to fondle a Steyr M9-A1 but I was intrigued and nearly bought one.

M&P9C plus Apex is, for me, the closest thing to a 1911 trigger I've found, even compared to hammer fired sa stuff. Clean, breaks like a glass rod, just the right pull. I could never get the Glocks, the 35 was literally the only firearm I've ever sold because I just couldn't shoot it well; trigger, grip angle. I may someday revisit Glocks, but the M&P with Apex is so outstanding, I can't see myself moving away from that platform anytime soon.

Walther PPQ

I have and really like the PPQ 9mm. I shoot the smallest groups with my HK USP 9mm though. I have not shot a VP9 yet.
