favorite handgun cartridges

That I own and shoot, based on rounds down range:
.22lr
9mm
.38 special
.38 super
.38 S&W
----------
No longer available here in Australia (at least for the average shooter), but well liked when they were available:
10mm Auto
.45acp

.45 acp and 10mm
I just sold my 10mm and i will miss it,but hopefully i can find an affordable 1911 10mm to replace it.
You never feel underpowered with a .45 or 10mm unless your at a tank fight.

In an auto, I am quite fond of 10mm Auto.

In revolvers, .44 Magnum is near and dear to my heart.

But my all time favorite is .357 Magnum.

My favorite for just outright fun is the .357 Mag. Load it heavy, load it light, load it hot, load it mild, load it with black powder, any way you do it, it's the most versatile handgun cartridge going.

My favorite for concealed carry is the 45ACP. However, I think the 1911 platform's thinness and the shrunk wrapped magazines designed around those big fat cartridges have more to do with my attraction than do the ballistics. One day I will get a .38 Super and test this theory.

My favorite for home defense is the 147 grain 9mm JHP. Blasphemy? No. The Mag is too punishing indoors, and call it spray and pray if you like, but all bleary eyed and putting it together on the fly, I want the 20+1 chances my Beretta PX-4 affords me to fight to a long gun if necessary.

My two favorite cartridges would have to be the .45 ACP and the .357 magnum. Why Because in trained hands they can drop pretty much any bg from here to jupiter...
