Favorite .45?

My new favorite is a Ruger P97 that I sold a SA 1911 to purchase. It has a 1911 grip profile a Sig 220 trigger and is more accurate than either, while being 100% reliable and a fraction of the price of either of the others.

Depends on your definition of "favorite".

If the criteria is looks it would have to be the Colt Single Action Army with a color casehardened frame and blue barrel, cylinder, grip frame & backstrap. Either hard rubber grips or one piece wood would do fine.

If the criteria is perfromance (accuracy, shootability, capacity, power) then it would have to be the Colt Government Model. My personal preference is the pre-MK IV commercial models.

If the criteria is absolute reliability and durability it would have to be the Glock 21. The G30 kind of fits in here too but if I was going to war (or back on the streets again) it would be the G21 with full capacity magazines.

Me likey this one: :D

My favorite .45 is now the Taurus PT145. 11 rounds of .45 in a reliable, accurate gun only slightly larger than a Glock 26!

HK USP-E 45ACP! Sig may be coming out w/ a 220 in double stack but I didn't want to have to learn another different pistol after the 1911 style and the Glock.

The 1911.

That's why I own seven of them. Plan on buying another this week to make my political statement - We own enough stock, need more American made guns.

Hard choice.

Love my Glock 30 with 14 rounds of 45 +P+ ammo in a G21 hi cap.

But nothing says gets da hell out of my house louder than . . .

Of the two you listed, I would choose (and did) the G30. It's a sweet shooting pistol and 2nd only to my 1911's in accuracy and trigger feel.

Star PD.

Star PD? Are you nuts, already??

Probly, but, yep, she's light (aluminum frame), compact (Colt Officer size), has never hiccuped in the several thousand rounds I've put thru her since I took her home new about 15 years ago, hits POA at 10 yards with 185gr CorBons and disappears in her Alessi MOB holster in polite company. I have enuf spare parts to keep her healthy thru the millennium.

Star's defunct, Interarms is defunct, but if I ever come across another Star PD, she will join the harem. Great gun.

These are a few of my favorite things:

HK USP Tactical: accurate and reliable with a great manual of arms

Glock 21: reliable and accurate, simple as a knife to use

SIG P220: accurate and reliable w/great double-action trigger

Custom 1911A1: when someone says ".45" it's the image that comes to mind.

Like them all for different reasons, so I can't play favorites.

PT-145!!! AGAIN!!!!

I just put 350 rounds through my PT-145. (300rds hard ball, 20rds Win Silver Tip, 30rds Rem G.S.) This gun is really nice!!! It does not like the Silver Tip, but loves the G.S.!!!! No FTF, No jams, with ammo it likes, right on point of aim!!! This one's a keeper!!!!

Well, if you plan on using it for a CCW or any field use - hands down the G30. If it is going to usually be for HD or a range gun, I'd go for the SIG without a doubt.

Now, my favorite .45... USP by a significant margin. I chose it over the SIG for range/HD - simply preference.
