favorite 44 magnum

when my 7 1/2" ruger redhawk was my only 44 mag it was my favorite. when i added a 4" taurus mod 44, 44 mag it became my favorite. it shot as well as the ruger and was easier to carry. having said that i want a 4 1/2 to 5 1/2" ruger super blackhawk in 44 mag and then that may become my favorite :)

Have owned 5 1/2" Redhawk, a 4" Model 29, and a Grizzly Win Mag. Hands down, for me the Redhawk was the best shooter, but the Win Mag got the most comments at the range.

I have owned and shot most of them. The only one I have now is the Ruger Super Blackhawk. For me it is the best. It is solid, accurate and I found that I can recover and make subsequent shots with it as fast as one can do so with the double actions. I like those, but I like the Super Blackhawk more.

Ruger Redhawk,7.5 inch barrel,in the factory high-gloss stainless steel finish [which I couldn't leave alone and Flitzed to even higher levels of reflectiveness].

Only have one, but like it a lot.
Ruger "old model" Super Blackhawk. No retro-fit safety, I just carry it cowbuy style with the hammer down on an empty chamber. For my close in deer hunting five rounds are plenty. Even more than enough, I don't usually have 5 tags with me! LOL:D

Here's something you might not see every day…
A Texas Longhorn, Grover's Improved Number "Five" in .44 Rem Mag

I only have two: a 629 with 8 3/8ths barrel, and a blue Vaquero. I don't shoot either very much, but have taken the S&W deer hunting (no shot opportunities). The Ruger is tougher to shoot comfortably. If I could only have one of these two, it would be the 629. There may be a Redhawk (4.20 in.) in my future.

Curious: How many Vaqueros were made in .44 Mag?

I've had a number of them go through my hands but the two I hung onto are a performance center snubby (crazy I know) and a 1 of 3,000 with a polished stainless finish and a dozen or so various front sights that can be changed with a spring loaded gizmo at the end of the 7 1/2" barrel.
