favorite 44 magnum

Am I the first to notice that the OP's gun is the only semi-auto mentioned and maybe the thread should be moved--at least to General Handguns? Just a thought. (5.5" SS Vaquero Bisley btw :-))

No, but you are the first one bothered by that ...:D I agree it would make more sense in general or revolver forum but it seems like lot of us have soft spot for the big boomers

We need more pics gents !

The only .44 I have ever owned was left to me when my dad passed away. I bought it for him for his Retirement. It's a Ruger Super Redhawk with variable scope. I put a Wilson trigger kit in it, made a hinged lid velvet lined case that held the gun, reloding dies, and 3 speed loaders w/ammo. I think he put a half a box of ammo through it.
I finally shot it a couple months ago and I have to say, it really is nice.

Since this is the semi forum, there is only one, right, the Desert Eagle.

Well, technically you're probably right. The 44 AutoMag uses a rimless 44 mag cartridge but is still a 44 mag. Love to see some pics if anyone has one....

I had a super nice redhawk with a 4x scope that I traded away for a Bulgarian SA93 and Soviet SKS. I threw in a hard case , a couple boxes of ammo, and a speedloader. I came out on top and don't regret the trade, but I miss that cannon. I may get another someday

How about an Automag IV in 45 Magnum.
Shooting some factory 260gr. JHP over a chronograph clocked 1300fps.
Full power 230gr. loads will go 1400+.

the original. smith came up with a winner.
IIRC Ruger actually beat Smith to the market.

I love all my 44 maggies 3" Smith 29, 7.5" Redhawk and a 50th anniversary Blackhawk My favorite might be my 7.5" Liberty Super Blackhawk but not til after I get done with mods.I'm going to cut Barrel back to 5.5" and add Weigand front sight and have frame sent to Turnbull for case hardning.
I'll let ya Know when it's done.

Redhawk

Ever since the Ruger Redhawk first came out, I wanted one badly. Made up my mind I was going to eventually have one. It was my second handgun purchase, way back in the 80s, after a Ruger .22, and is still my favorite .44. It is also my only .44. To me it has the most beautiful lines of any, though strength rather than beauty is usually attributed to Rugers. The Redhawk has both in spades.

For me it depends upon the use.

- For carry in rural, or out back areas, it would be the S&W 329PD.
- For hunting it is the Desert Eagle.
- For range use punching paper, it is the S&W 629 Cassic 6 -1/2".

Then there is the Marlin 1894 SS. It kinda fits in there with all of those situations.

No, it could be my favorite, an LAR Grizzly in 44 mag. Wish I had one; I've only been able to shoot it once.

For revolvers, easy, Dan Wesson with a 4" full underlug barrel.

S&W 29-2

I have a nice S&W 29-2 6" bbl that I really enjoy shooting.I also have a Ruger Vaquero,which I don't like as much.

Well, it got moved to "General Handgun." Let's move it again. :D

I really like my Marlin 1894S. Although I have a New Ruger SBH, stainless, 10 1/2" bbl. and a Smith & Wesson, 629, 4" bbl. old style w/ the pinned barrel and the recessed rim cylinder.

I like them all.
