Fanny Packs?

I know they can be very handy. You can keep you piece and documents, etc.

However, I think it was initially made for soccer moms:)

I stand corrected, here's one that doesn't scream gun.
Let me know if you want the URL, PBP.:D

Used one today. Too many pockets. can't remember where I put everything, then, if I need something, I'm always afraid I've already dropped it.

I find the Smart Carry the best way to carry a gun, with the fanny pack as a carry place for all the stuff I don't like in my pockets.

Man guys i had no idea that this was such a hot topic. I do have a question after looking at all of ya'lls suggestions. Do all of these "packs" fit full size guns? I have a Taurus 845 that I carry and my father in law carries a full size glock .40.
Oh and the rainbow one is awesome....hahahahahaha.
I think so far the Wilderness pack looks the "manliest" to me, but my father wants a "fanny pack". So for him I am leaning toward the slash proof one. How is the quick draw out of that?

Especially in the woods, while hiking, I carry a gun in a fanny pack. Its forest gren in color and looks like any pack a granola eating hiker would use. It will carry two water bottles or one water bottle, my gun an extra mag or two, compass, lighter, etc. I can shift it around to my front, draw and be ready in seconds. I don't care what other people think. It works for me.

fanny pack

I use common fanny packs from Walmart that look like I probably have a camera or cell phone in them.To get them opened faster,I attach something to the lil zipper so I can grab it easier.Gun fanny packs are nice, but to me they scream gun.I want my gun coming out to be a big suprise. So far so good for me and I have been carrying like this for years in warm weather when hiding a gun is more difficult.

I once heard Nick Swardson, a comedian, talking about people trying to stop others from using the word "gay" as an adjective. He said "I'm sorry but how else am I supposed to describe a fanny pack?" :D

Can I ask what difference it makes if people think you are carrying? As long as you are not printing or doing something illegal then I say let them think whatever they want. Who cares? Just because I think someone has a oddly shaped bulge, or suspicious pack of some sort doesnt mean that I'm gonna start flailing around in the air and pointing fingers. I guess I just dont get the problem here.

The difference is that it could make you the first person shot.

I think I am going to get a waist pack. Fanny pack? Hardly! Just ask those guys across the pond in the UK what a fanny is. Oh, and the rainbow patch could be a pre- WWII Rainbow Division patch. I don't remember why they cut it to a quarter circle, but a little google can go a long way.

Millions of fanny packs are sold every year that do not have holsters in them. If you think you are seeing a gun every time you see a fanny pack you are deluding yourself.
In fact the vast majority of them do not contain holsters. When I started wearing one for vacations, there wasn't ANY with holsters. Now that there is, it's just far more convenient. Gun, wallet and camera in mine when on vacation.

Think whatever you want, there's nothing more convenient. Makes me wonder how many actual "wimps" on here are screaming lack of "manliness."

Have you seen pics of some of the people on this forum? Most of them are practically one big, walking, oddly shaped bulge even when they are not carrying. :D :p ;)

Now THIS is a fanny pack.

You'll be the hit of the tailgator party or fishing trip with this belt! Available in either Camo, Red, Blue or Pink, it holds six of your favorite beers and will fit comfortably around even the biggest beer belly! Now you don't have to worry about someone stealing your beer at a party, or misplacing it when you go to take a leak!

Not bad for $10

Wuchak, I like the way the weight is evenly distributed in your fanny pack. Suppose they make one with suspenders that carries twelve:D.

I hear ya Shortwave but I was thinking of 6 more pockets to put the dogs/brats/sausages in. Also a spitcup or ashtray can. Just because we are wearing a camo beer belt doesn't mean we can't be civilized.

I wear this pack everyday.

I don't carry a gun in it but I could.

It is a superior quality pack that looks like those the police swat teams wear on their backs at the beltline.

I slip my belt through the loops -

(click on the bottom left picture on the website to see the loops-those two quick click snaps actually can go over the front side of the pack to control any heavy items in the bag.)

(these verticle loops need to be unsnapped, slipped inside the half loop that goes horizontally across the back of the pack and resnapped for standard fanny pack use)

-on the back of the pack and use it just like a fanny pack.

The shoulder strap I took off and keep as a extra rifle sling.

I do work in secured areas and it really helps to have all my junk in this when I get to the checkpoints.

I just release my belt, slip the end out of the pack, run it through the x-ray machine and put it back on.

Condor also offers a wide variety of other packs, bags and holders aimed primarily at the rugged military market.

My bag cost $40 in a military surplus store but I am sure you could find it for much less elsewhere.

couple years ago we had great fun with a "man bag" "fanny pack" thread on another forum.

Here are a few items:

The Goblin...this one may have been covered, it does have a dedicated location for that special something.

This is one of a couple of "bags" I have. This one comes with a belt, or can be used with a shoulder strap or put on an existing belt. It will accomodate up to a L Frame or many SA. Probably not a full 1911. Still has room left over for other items.

Here is a smaller version NiteIze. This will carry a J frame (642 shown) or a PM 9 Kahr. Super fast and room for a couple items.

The cover is simply a "rain cover" style with elastic. This is good for backpacking as you can get the hip strap abover or below, or strap it to a shoulder strap/Molle style.

I like this one, but never bought it. If I am carrying that much crap I am probably packpacking, and would go with my Nite Ize as seen above.
