Hi Don i posted this earlier but i will repeat it again. The part of the UK i live in is called Northern Ireland which is part of the UK.
The handgun ban did not apply to N Ireland, i own a 9mm CZspo1-a Para Ordnance 14-45 and .22 Browning Buckmark, so i do have experience owning and shooting various pistols if i did not i wouldn't be posting on this site. :)

I went back and read "ALL" your 63 posts and the only mention of Ireland was about if you want to shoot IDPA.
Why not put Northern Ireland as your location?
 
I don't think that it is paranoia unless you let it dominate you. I carry a gun around the house. I'm not paranoid, I am being prepared. It took an event at a Wal-Mart for me to finally get the fact that I needed to get a concealed weapons permit. I saw someone being assaulted because the person wanted their paycheck. After that, I decided to buy a gun. I don't think it is paranoia. It is protecting yourself.

Hi Don no reason i suppose its like a poster on a UK forum might put location USA even though there are a lot of states in the USA with different gun laws .

Most people think that in the USA all the gun laws are the same.

Most people also think that the gun laws in the UK are the same.

The gun laws are different in N Ireland example handguns where not banned in N Ireland but you need a firearms certificate to own an air rifle as for air pistols you cant get one unless you are in a gun club, I would have to go trough the same procedure to get an air pistol as a 357 mag pistol, but in England to get an air rifle or pistol all you need is to be is over 17 years old.

In N Ireland you can also get a handgun for personal protection if you have had a threat form a terrorist organisation.
