Everyones favorite knife

For me it depends on where and what I'm doing; in town I generally carry the swiss explorer, in a bad area Gerber exchange a blade folder, in the woods I really like Chris Reeves fixed blade survival knife(Hollow handle for storage, but not the "rat tail" tang design, its one solid 12 inch hunk of steel).
Now if you like throwers in my opinion there are only two choices; Case XXX 11', or Gil Hibbens 11' throwers. (I think they've been discontinued but they pop up on gunbroker from time to time.)
Double-edged Gerber mark III, I believe its called, hands down, if you can afford it. (I've seen them in the 400.00 price range and up.) SOG makes a decent version though for about 90.00.
All around favorite but illegal to carry in CA. and several other states, yet not illegal to own (As long as it stays at home.) is my Pacific Cutlery Balisong or butterfly. Pacific Cut. changed its name to Benchmark several years back, but they still make good quality blades.
I think I probably like knives as much if not more than firearms.

CRKT M-16 "special forces'

this knife has a 3.5" tanto blade, with "flippers" on both sides that form a handguard when the blade is deployed.

Local knife maker here in MO. has some fine equipment. His name is Randy Breadon.He makes and sharpens knives. Of particular interest was a knife holster that had magnets in the leather. The knife wouldn't fall out if the sheath until pulled by hand. Very nice. The knives and sheaths were all very nice quality. Anyone interested can email them at

Buck Knives. Quality. Durability. My wife got me my newest Buck last Christmas. Although it is a hunter's knife, it has served all my needs. It is the "Alpha Hunter" folding knife. It comes with a nice black case for your belt.

Microtech SOCOM. The only lock I REALLY trust with my little wigglers...

The Camillus HEAT is nice, too, and has a pretty decent lock for the price.

Folder - Emerson Commander I love the quick opening out of the pocket. When I first saw a demo of it, it looked like the guy cut his pocket off to get it out so fast.

Fixed - Ka-Bar tanto

Spyderco Endura, old style w/integral clip,full-spyderedge EDC.I've owned knives that cost 4 times as much,but none pleased me as much as this one.tom. :cool:

Favorite folder - it's a tossup between my CRKT PointGuard or my BM 551 Griptillian.

Favorite fixed blade is my BM Rant DPT (Drop Point Tactical)

Well, I have a few that I like to carry more than others. I always like to call my knives every other day carry.

Benchmade.

I carry the following:

folding= Benchmade 940 pln

fixed tactical= Benchmade nimravus tanto bt2 pln

hunting= Benchmade Drop Point Hunter

Over the years i've carried several folding knives, from Buck,Emerson,Gerber,S&W tactical /SWAT, in several sizes. Currently I carry a Kershaw Ken Onion Blackout with a serrated edge and i'm pretty sure this is the best all around folder to date. Not to mention I got it at Walmart of all places for $50 although i've seen it at some stores at up to $89

Nothing but SOG baby!

Flash II Plain blade...Assisted open....not too bulky for carry...have tried neck knives, heavier autos, still my hand automatically picks up the Sog every time I go out...my next purchase will be the same knife except in camo

My little 3 blade Kbar is enough for most of my needs. Razor sharp and the longest blade is 2.5 inches. Not big enough to reach a person's hollow spot, but will sure make for hurt and blood.
When I need a fixed blade, I keep picking up my old Marine Corps Kbar fighting knife. It is really too big for most stuff, but it has served its purpose for over 50 years. (Hunting buddies accuse me of carrying a sword) :D

I only have folding knives right now, and I normally carry a Gerber 650, if I have a coat to put it in, (it's thick) and a Gerber 625 that I'm never without.
Although, as I typed this, I felt my pockets, and I don't seem to have it on me today for some reason :)
