Every American should be required to buy a revolver

I have insurance, it happens to be a revolver. :) People being grossly under prepaired and defenseless in their everyday lives Costs me. If you're shot or mugged because you couldn't stop the BG, you go to hospital costing the system, either funds, resourses or BOTH. Should the govt. require us to be able to defend ourselves? If they can force you to buy insurance, logically they would be able to force you to "take steps" to physically defend yourself in daily life ie; buy a gun, take a self-defense class, hire a body-guard and so on. Once you get rid of that line in the sand between "govt of the people" and "govt over the people" America is no longer America.

Lets say you have one hand injured and a round either jams or does not go off in the Glock...then what do you do? You have to rack the slide or it wont fire and the same goes for any semi-auto. However, with a revolver if the round doesnt go off then you just pull, the cylinder then rotates and tries again on another round.

The revolver is really a one handed operation and is a good backup firearm to have. Its really a one hand no brainer operation. There is the cylinder with the rounds, you pull the trigger and blam. On the other hand with a semi-auto it gets more complex and there are jams especially with certain ammo. You need two hands to work any semi-auto especially when it jams.

How long does it take you to reload that revolver with just one hand?

Sorry, but I can run my CZ's much easier and faster than my revolvers one handed.

Have in fact run multiple mags with random snap caps through my gun entirely with one hand.

I've even run them with just my off hand.

Not saying revolvers suck, I have a few and really like them. But claiming they only need one hand is kinda ignoring a big part of running a gun.

I will also say that while semi-autos do malfunction more often, the majority of those malfunctions are really simple to fix. And in fact are something that can be done during a fight.

Every malfunction I've seen or experienced in a Revolver required tools and a good bit of time to fix. Even the simplest malfunctions like case getting under the extractor can completely lock up your gun.

Regardless of whether it's a revolver or semi for primary gun, there are just so many reasons why a BUG (speaking of mandatory;)) should be considered more often (most of my buddies carry one and all the cops I know do). I use a Beretta 21A and it's so compact it literally never poses an inconvenience.

Dont worry. The 38 Special was stopping people long before you were born.
As was .22 lr, but that doesn't mean it is a good choice for self defense.

It was the main gun for officers for a long long time.
So was the .32 in Europe and Asia, but that doesn't a good choice.

You guys are sounding a bit too complex. What are you supposed to do with it? You go down to the range and shoot it. Next you take it home, shine it up, admire it and feel proud to own one. Revolvers are a big part of American history.

Let me see if I understand this. Part of your justification that revolver ownership should be mandated by law involves you needing to have the sentiment of being proud and because they are part of history?

If your revolver is malfunctioning then I think you failed the test. Im not sure what test you failed but its obvious you failed something if you cant get that revolver to work correctly.

Wow, you really want to be making your case by arguing from ignorance?

My opinion is a revolver around the house represents good insurance against that criminal element which is armed to the teeth.

Strangely, a big reason why most US police departs went to semis was because the criminal element was armed to its teeth and the low capacity revolvers put the officers at a disadvantage in a firefight.

Everyone here probably already knows I'm practically a leftist by local standards, so I don't suppose it would hurt to voice my opinions.

I don't even like saying the pledge of alliegence. After all we got along just fine without it for over a hundred years and another 50 as a "godless" pledge. But I think there ought to be a draft. So I just don't see the point, assuming the original post was serious. You know, when you say something, you always run the risk of being taking seriously. Most humor is serious anyway. At any rate, I doubt you really meant "Every American" in the first place.

Uncle Sam Says

Buying a revolver is one thing.
Being mandated to buy and fire a certain number of rounds in your revolver is another thing all together.

I think every internet poster should be required to have a sense of humor.:D

That being said, I can hand a revolver to just about anyone and with little or no instruction they can utilize it to some degree of accuracy. The same can't be said of many autos.
