Ever regret selling some of your guns?

I miss many I've sold. For a few reasons: they were traded to a gunshop, so I got ripped off on the price; all were in excellent condition (I had no junk); and sometimes a need arises when I actually could use the gun I've traded away. When will we learn?

One of the reasons I do not regret selling many of the guns that I sold is because I had no clearly defined vision when I first started my collection. My personal taste in firearms had not yet developed either...nor had my knowledge of their mechanics and design.

As I started to learn more about firearms from the technical side and started to have more personal experience with different models I began forming strong personal opinions and preferences.

Unfortunately my learning did not keep pace with my purchasing. I ended up with guns I bought early on that did not meet my new standards. Also, as my knowledge of manufacturers and models increased I found guns that were superior to ones I already owned for specific purposes. Like when I discovered Seecamps and had no need to keep my NAA Guardian.

You can see pics of all the guns I have sold from my current collection right here. :)

My thoughts exactly. Every single one of them.
For those of you that regretted every single parting, did you use the money to buy another firearm? Every time I have sold a gun it has been a means to obtain a different and often better gun.

I've sold a lot of quality and expensive guns in the past. The only one I ever regret is a Ruger P90. My particular specimen had both a great DA and SA trigger. Not mention it was as great shooter as well.

Hurts even more that the main reason for me selling it was because I needed the money to pick up an AMT Hardballer, which turned out to the single worst gun I ever bought.

Never. Only sold 2, and both were at those times being replaced with far better models. Life's too short to dance with crappy guns.

only one regret

I've peddled a couple 22's. A Jennings and a Taurus, both junk. I bought a used Redhawk with a 5 1/2" barrel. Best handgun I ever had, and the first Ruger I'd owned. Super smooth trigger. I traded for 7 1/2 SRH I no longer own. I payed $350 for Redhawk 20 years and would pay $600 to get it back. I think a tear just hit my keyboard.

Yeah...my Dad's

Couple years ago when I started getting back into shooting after a long absence, I sold 2 of my Dad's guns to help finance my AR-15.

Dad died awhile back and left me his custom made (by my great uncle, no less) .30-06 bolt action. Beautiful rifle, but too much gun for me. I'm no fan of bruised shoulders, and my Winchester .30-30 is about as much gun as I can take banging against my shoulder without a recoil spring to absorb some shock. So I sold it. I regret the hell out of it now. Even if I never shot it, I would love to take it out and just oil it and hold it and still feel that connection to my Dad.

I also sold his 12-gauge. Don't remember the model--wasn't worth much in money terms, and I'm still not sure why I sold it. Guess I figured I didn't have much need for a 28" duck gun. I still regret selling it now.

Only two. A SIG P225 that I promptly replaced and strangely enough a Glock 30. I don't sell alot of guns, once they find a home with me they typically stay.

Not sure why I miss that 30 though, but I somehow do.

I miss them all! I had some nice stuff I let go when I needed some cash... I just sold my Mini-14, and I wish I kept it...

I have only sold two..and I regret them both. The first was my very first firearms ever. It was a Chinese SKS. I kick myself now but at the time I had no appreciation for firearms. I do now and I regret having sold it. The second was a Chinese Mosin Nagant copy. I never even shot it. I don't regret so much selling that particular weapon as much as having sold a weapon in general. I have vowed that never again will I sell a firearm unless it is to get a better one...or more of them.

Regret selling off guns? Sometimes, but not often. Most can be replaced.

The ones that I often think about are a Smith 4" Model 25, a Uzi Mini-Carbine in 9mm, a few as-new Colt Diamondbacks in 38spl. I never shot the Model 25 and I dumped it before I knew much about them. (Why did I buy it at all? Got it from a friend that needed money.) The Uzi functioned well but shot poorly accuracy-wise. Sold it during the last AWB scare. I almost wish I had the thing to go play with but it never really impressed me as having "rifle" accuracy. Bought a lot of Diamondbacks and sold them but I wish I had a couple of the 38spl's now that I got rid of. I have no real regrets on the other 30 or 40 firearms that I have sold off. Honestly, I can replace any of the ones I sold off without much difficulty if I chose to.

Like PlayboyPen I was finding out what I was more interested in and after a while most guns that I bought stuck. I don't buy 3rd Tier guns at all. I consider the Ruger's 2nd Tier although they have improved in the last 10 years into a 1st Tier product company. It was a fun time buying 5-6 guns a month for a while and selling off most at shows.

I too regret every firearm I ever got rid of but the one I miss the most was a S&W Model 58 .41 mag that I converted to a Model 57 by rebarreling and putting adjustable sights on. Man, that was a fine shooter.

I traded

in a Colt series 70 1911 on a Sig 226.I had been carrying the Colt on the job and my agency outlawed single action autos.I never liked the Sig much at all.
I also regret selling my Ruger New Model Blackhawk 45ACP/45 Colt convertible.
