Does your gun do both CCW and nightstand duty?

Who has a CCW gun that also takes part in night watch? Or do you have separate guns for each duty?

I used to use two different ones. Until I got tired of going through my safe every night and morning to place it back in and out of my safe. Not lazy, just felt silly. So I have been using my CCW as my nightstand gun for the past year.

However, just about 15 minutes ago before bed I felt compelled to bring out my old nightstand duty gun and slap on the TLR-1s and thought about this all over again. I don't like having out more than one gun, unless I'm going to the range. So I'm just curious how the folks on here do CCW / nightstand duty. Whether its one gun for both or two separate guns.


My CCW is a Glock 19 gen3 w/ Trijicon HD night sights, a spare 17 round mag, a powertac 700 lumen flashlight with the following settings: firefly, low, mid, high, and strobe. When it would sit on my nightstand the CCW turned into a night duty gun with 3 spare mags and I mount the TLR-1s onto it and its ready to go. Loaded with Corbon DPX-1's 95gr.

Yes, the spare mag of the G21sf is loaded with FMJ, if I have to change mags I need to punch through some stuff.



So....nightstand differ from CCW / CCW differs from nightstand? If so what's your logic, if not what's your logic. Please share. Pics are always awesome!
 
My CCW either a Sig P220R or Sig P229R also serve as my nits and gun. I also keep a Mossberg 500 and the wife keeps a Walther PK380 as our bedroom guns...
 
No way. Nightstand gun stays in the room. EAA witness carry in .45 with a streamlight TLR-4. Carry is a ruger LCP. I'm a big guy an I love the ruger, fits nice with the pinky extension.

HOWEVER, lately I have been considering the Springfield XDs for both jobs, beauty of a .45 plus the Concealed carry ability. (Extended/extra mags for home of course)
 
Yep, Glock 19, though I don't carry much since we moved. Can't carry at new job.

Used to carry a snub, and kept a Beretta 92fs in the nightstand. Then simplified.

Love the G19, small enough to conceal, big enough to handle well.
 
Currently I have two guns to take care of the jobs. A Glock 19 for carry and a Glock 34 for nightstand duty.

Sometimes, however, I will carry my M&P9 FS and then when I get to sleep I will throw my TLR-1 on it and it will take nightstand duty.
 
I have an 870 by the bed, but I also keep my XDm .45 on the nightstand, my carry guns alternate between a 1911 and a S&W 642 based on the weather, however pending the next few weeks at the range it might be changing to a Glock 36, and if that holds as the carry gun, it will probably take over the bedstand one as well.
 
Normally it's what I was carring when I went to bed.Useually my 19 if it is my
xds I slip in the extended mag.My flash light never leaves the night stand.
My wife's Kahr p380 is on her side with a flash light and extra mag.She loves the thing and its never out of reach"ever".1st thing on last thing off.
Her G17 is mounted in a holster screwed to the wall of her closet 3' from her side of the bed.
 
since I added a walk in gun safe room, I keep everything locked up tight, except the gun du jour...:) I do change out / rotate regularly, but whatever gun is on duty, parks on my night stand next to my flashlight at night
 
My nightstand handgun (in a holster) is usually my CC gun -
1. Kahr K9 when my GF does not have it.
2. Walther P99 or Sig P6.
 
What ever I carry during the day is on my dresser at night, but I always have a Walther P-38 in a clip on holster clipped to my bed frame for easy access at night.

I have 2 basically identical spares to my primary carry pistol. Primary only goes out with me, one copy is my "in the house" carry, and one has a rail mounted laser/light combo that is what some refer to as "a nightstand gun".
 
My summertime carry is Walther PPS. I never use that one as a home defense gun. My wife's carry is an LC9 (summer, winter whatever), and again, that is not a weapon she would use for home defense.

Until recently, our primary home defense gun was a glock 19 with tritium night sights. This same weapon is also my wintertime carry.... so if I was out of the house, my wife would rely on an old Glock 17 (still a great gun) or her Ruger GP-100. But the logistics of this swapping about was irksome.

Just recently, I bought an FNH FNX-40, and this will be our new "all the time" home defense gun. I like it because it came from the factory with good night sights. I wanted a 40 cal. I wanted a DA first shot.
 
My nightstand gun is a Springer Loaded 1911 ... too heavy for me to carry, especially when it's hot here ... my EDC is a Kahr PM9 which I can pocket carry ... the Springer has night sights, which I value for indexing the gun in the dark and lining up the sights ...
 
Carry gun, a .38 Special J-frame, is on the dresser next to my bed, not quite in reach. But there's a Model 10 with the same ammo (FBI load) in a shelf in the head of the bed. It stays there. I live alone so I don't worry about having two guns out.
 
No, I usually carry an Officer's length Kimber 1911 but nightstand duty is currently handled by a railed 5" 1911 with Wilson 10rd magazines.
 
One, a G26 and two different magazines. One is the standard 10 round for carry but when it’s on the back of the bed it has a G17 Mag with the rubber extension.
 
Nightstand and CC....same gun(s) for me. I alternate carry of each, usually weekly. Whichever one I'm carrying that week becomes the "nightstand" gun, when I get home.
 
My gun(s) have only one duty. That duty is to protect and defend my family and myself no matter where it is or what time it is. My gun(s) have been carried concealed, open while on duty (private security or police), open when not on duty, and nightstand "carry".
 
Yes and no. On the bottom shelf of the table next to the bed is my Beretta M9A1, on top of that table sits my Sig 232 which is my carry gun. I feel confident with grabbing either one if I hear a bump in the night.
