Do you ever loan out your gun(s)?

Yes, I have two revolvers on semi-permanent loan to family members for their personal protection, and they are both qualified to handle/shoot them.

I have a decent old bolt rifle with iron sights for a "loaner" to new deer hunters and an old single shot 20 ga. Both are quite serviceable for their purposes but not valuable. And they rarely get asked for.

To use them on my property and under my supervision, I would loan one to you.

To take it to another range, hunting or class: Only one man besides myself will ever take my guns off of my property. He brings them back in better shape than I loan them to him.

I let a friend (he's a Marine home from Afghanistan) borrow my .223 rifle for a coyote hunt he wants to buy from me. Other than that one time, my answer is NO.

Do you ever loan out your gun(s)?

I did once. I got my O/U back with a barrel blown out.
Will I do it again? Certainly! When Charon the Boatman is the transportation coordinator for the Winter Olympics.

The entire clan has multiple firearms so we sometimes use each other's, but outisde the family?..... Nevah evah.

I have and would when there is need... usually after a theft where a friends weapon was stolen and has not yet been replaced, or when friends fly in, legally have a right to be armed but did not bring a weapon with them.

It has always been a 38 / 357 revolver. I don't see that gun getting hurt and beggers can not be choosers

I don't necessarily loan out my personal weapons but I buy extra to loan to friends or family.

You guys that wouldn't loan your guns to that druggie with the glazed look in his eyes are almost there...It's good that you wouldn't loan them guns but it would be even more tactical to not hang out with those guys so they don't ask...:D

This is the companion thread to what caliber for wrol/shtf/zombies thread. The correct answer in those threads is "friends".

It depends on who. I have one or 2 friends that I trust that much and one of them has more guns than I do.

My daughter has only to ask and she can borrow any gun in my collection but she only asks for my M1911a1. It comes back dirty but well cared for... I suppose I should have taught her to clean guns when she was a child rather than doing it for her... :)

Anyway I guess it comes down to who do you trust with your guns...

I've loaned my deer rifle.Three of us took three bucks on the same farm in the same week with it.

Handguns..No way.But I let people shooting with me shoot them.

Used to loan one of my 30-30s' and 30-06 to son in law number two for hunting. Never regretted it, and when I decided to quit hunting, gave him
the 06.

Yes I have three times, 1st. to my brother and that was a big mistake. Came back two weeks later trashed. 2nd. time to my best friend when visiting while on leave and having flown in couldn't bring his carry gun so loaned him one, it came back with 20 rounds sd ammo 50 rounds shooting ammo and ready for inspection. The 3rd. time was my free pistol to a friend that shot on the same pistol team with me and wanted to try shooting free pistol match. He had it 10 weeks and it came back as good as it left.

Loaned one to my brother while overseas. Came back to find it had been sold. Found out also it had been trashed before being sold, my Smith Model 29. I took him for cahs, one of his guns, and some hide.
Last time I did my manager's car burned up with the family pistol in it, a Davis .380. I loaned her a Taurus 85CH 38 snub. Never saw it again. Wrote it off as a lesson learned.

I have had friends at work, relatives and some other close friends "loan" me their rifles for me to do or coordinate some work they wanted with my GS.

However, I've never loaned anyone my guns to take with them!

I take a back-up rifle on all my out-of-town hunting trips and have loaned some guys at deer camp my back-up rifle for the day's hunt but never to take one home.

I've loaned out handguns to friends, but only because they left their handgun with me to do some stippling work that they loved so much on mine. don't really wanna leave them unarmed. after a few days, we would meet up and swap back.

Since my dad and I live on opposite sides of the country, I have a Beretta Px4 I loan him for carry while out here, and he has an old Gen 2 police trade-in Glock 23 that I carry when in PA.

I've also loaned out my .44Mag Taurus to a good friend who is a good shooter while he was hunting because the last few hunting seasons have had some really bad bear encounters. mostly blackies but there have been a few griz.

I guess it's a "to whom" and "why" situation you have to analyze for yourself...

My brother and I trade guns out quite a bit (he only lives a mile away, anyway...) and have for many years. As our kids are learning to shoot, he borrows the .22's a lot, lately, for example.

Beyond that... I have given a gun to my bestest friend (a worn HiPower) because I know his wife wouldn't let him buy one... so I GAVE him one. (He sold his dirt bike and all his guns when he got married because he thought he needed to become 'more responsible'... whatever that means.)

And I have a few rifles that I would loan, and a few that I would not. I did loan my AR to my TaeKwon-Do buddy when he was doing some security work in Houston after one of the hurricanes. No one is borrowing my pistols (get your own!)

I will loan guns to four people, and they are my mother, father, younger brother and my best friend... I do not trust anyone else I know...

I will loan out my truck but my brother doesn't like it because its too fast :D

I would to only a few very trusted friends.
With the exception of one special rifle. That never leaves my sight unless it is locked in the gun safe.
