Yes. I keep a .45 loaded and within reach when im in the house. If i walk out the door i have a small 9mm concealed on my waist or in my pocket. I pretty much have a handgun on me at all times, just to many crazy and mean people in the world today not to.

This is what did it for me, i had a close friend get robbed while cutting grass. A guy approached him from the front distracting him while asking for directions while another guy that he didn't see came up from behind him and held a pistol on him and they robbed him. He's lucky that he didn't get shot.

Im not saying that he couldn't have gotten shot had he had a handgun because he very well could have if it had went that far but at least he would have had a chance to defend himself. I really hope and pray i never have to use mine but no doubt i'd rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Mike

Of course,,,yes! The home is just another perimeter to defend,,,even with the alarm system and the dog,,,I always carry.

If I am not at work, in bed, or in the shower, my pistol is on me.

When I hit the sack at night, it gets tucked between mattress and box springs.......close at hand and quick to get to. When my daughter gets older, that will have to change, but it works well for now since she still has 3 months until she pops out.

Not to pick at scabs, but just to provide a well known example. The US fought off the British because of their oppression which included taxation without representation. Do you think the British thought the colonists should have guns when the war ensued?

This brings to mind the date, April 19, 1775. The British had Boston harbor sealed off as well as the bridges. There goal was to confiscate all the weapons from our forefathers. Thanks god they hid there weapons when the famous cry was heard, THE BRITISH ARE COMING

I shoot IDAP, USPSA, ICORE, and STEEL CHALLENGE and at our local matches we have shooters from the UK, Belgium, S. America that shoot world wide which are now all U.S. citizens.

Seems strange that folks from countries that do not allow the citizens to own firearms come here and low and behold they go out and buy guns.

Luckily you can still have handguns in this part of the UK. Only for target shooting unless you have had a threat made against your life.

Yes, I carry at home, all day, every day. If I leave and my dear Wife is here, alone, she is carrying, all day. We live in a rural location. But, there are Home Invasions in rural locations too. I'd rather have it and not need it than.........need it and not have it.;)

Ahh, forgot to add....I turned 72 y.o., Sunday.:)

I am shocked! I did not think you could own a handgun in the UK regardless of your location. Can you keep it at your residence, or is this kept at a shooting club/range?

Yes thankfully the handgun ban did not apply to N Ireland. You have to be in a gun club to get one it can only be used at an approved range. Any firearms have to be kept at the owners residence. But that can cause its own problems as some paramilitary organizations would like to get their hands on them. See below.

A man accused of murdering a firearms enthusiast has admitted the killing but said it was "an accident".

Darren Kernohan, 35, of Moss Drive, Antrim, denies murdering financial advisor Geoff Kerr at his home in Templepatrick in April 2009.

Martin Fleming, 51, of Churchill Road in Larne, last week pleaded guilty to the murder and was jailed for life.

Mr Kernohan said he hatched a plan with Fleming to break into Mr Kerr's home to steal whatever weaponry he had.

Giving evidence to Belfast Crown Court on his own behalf, Mr Kernohan told the jury: "I concede that I killed him but I didn't point the gun at him or intentionally

I live in a major urban American Inner City--'Nuff Sed' as the 'hommies' here in 'the hood' say:cool:.

Seriously though and until I am certain that no one will enter my property unlawfully (note for the record that I am not holding my breath), I will carry at all times--seems only logical--IMHO, to think differently is nothing short of naivety at its height. I have always wanted to live on a farm or at the very least in a rural environment--perhaps I would feel differently if that were the case in terms of always being armed but I don't so I will defer to those of you that do.

YES I carry at home... in the past few years the home invasion rate here has doubled..... i live about 7 miles outside of a real small town.... 5 years ago we could leave our houses and cars unlocked... not anymore.. a guy1/2 mile away from me was broken into at 2pm with him on the couch watching tv.... thank god he was able to think fast enough to grab a knife and chase the guy away.... MY GUN IS ALWAYS ON ME! unless im in the shower or sleeping
then its next to me.

My pants don't fit without a gun in the waistband to fill them out. I'm dead serious about this, too. My belts are all only tight enough to fit with a gun in the waistband as well. It's not like this by design, just the result of always carrying for the last few years regardless of where I am or what I'm doing.

I almost always carry when at home. We live in a very nice neighborhood, but my golfing buddy across the alley had his trailer stolen. My car has been broken into as well as several of the other neighbors on the block. The jungle is only 2 blocks away. My son also lives in a nice section of town and never worried about carring until a house 4 doors down had a home invasion. So no matter where you live sometimes trouble comes looking for you.

^^^

That's the thing some folks don't realize... The BG isn't going to burglarize or rob/home-invade people in bad neighborhoods because there just isn't a lot to get in those neighborhoods.

If you live in a nice neighborhood, your chances of being burglarized or experience a home invasion goes up.

Sounds like you literally live on the border between good and evil...

Classic...

I have guns throughout the house. dont feel the need to keep them on my person (i hate that phrase). I think my two dogs and 3,000 square feet would give me enough time to get a hold of a weapon.
