Do you carry a smaller gun for convenience or necessity

When my CCW comes in another 3 months I will be carrying a lcp in front pocket and a full sized M9 or G19 on me in another spot. The lcp is my backup and easy to get to in different spots. Two guns are a must, one could jam or break or get taken/lost etc..... Yes the M9 conceals well on me at 5'7 130, it just hard to bend down (it pokes at me)

A little bit of both but mostly necessity. The state I live in is not very gun friendly and not many people conceal carry so carrying a large handgun and printing is not really an option for me.

what do you mean by small? size or caliber?

.380 amt backup- my most carried gun
9mm taurus 709 slim-carried regularly
9mm s&w mod 669-12+1 capacity
.45 taurus pt 145

those are my choices. i like them number 1 for size and number 2 for capacity.

Bit of both. I live in small town and the crime rate is relatively low. I carry a small .380 that slips into my pocket which is convenient, but I feel adequately protected in case of necessity.

Do you carry a smaller gun for convenience or necessity

I only pocket carry, for convenience. So I have small 380, 3spl, 9mm compacts that I feel very confident with.

There are 4 guns that I carry. The smallest is a Beretta Cheetah .380. It is probably the biggest .380 made. The others are a Springfield .45 officer’s model, Stoeger 9mm Cougar and recently an S&W 66 revolver. After dressing for the day, I decide which gun will be easiest to carry that day. I like heavy guns. If you run out of ammo, you can always pound them into a grease spot with it. :)

I would like to use a different term for my reasoning other than the two aforementioned choices of "convenience or necessity. I carry my Kel-Tec P11 because my research showed it to be the most "practical" choice for me IMO. For me, it's not a compromise in any way whereby I feel I am either under or over 'gunned' thereby needing to find a convenient alternative out of necessity. Don't know if that makes sense in terms of the way I tried to convey it but here's hoping.

-Cheers

After cc'ing for 25+yrs. I carry what I feel I could do the job at hand with as comfortably as I can. For me it's either a 642 or 442 with CT grips, pocket carried for summer. A Para Carry Companion 7.45LDA, during jacket weather.

It depends on where I'm going. When I'm traveling I carry my LC9 on my body but generally my EMP in .40 in the truck. Around town I carry my LC9. In the woods I carry my Wilson Combat .45 and generally my SP101 with snake load in case I just need to scare a wolf or cougar checking out my dog too closely.

I like carrying a CCO sized 1911 but cannot always do so because of clothing, especially in hot weather. Also, I sometimes don't really feel like packing a gun so I'll pocket carry something small instead of going unarmed.

My first handgun that I CC'd was a Browning HP. I was new to the game and quickly found out that it was just to big & heavy for me to comfortably carry.

I've gone through a few different carry guns since then and currently CC either a Glock, 23 or 26, Taurus mod 85 and always armed with an NAA .22 mag.

Times of the year also are a factor for what I carry. Right now it pretty cool up here in the Pacific NW. So I've been carrying my Glock 23 mostly. When it warms up in June I'll be CC'ing my Glock 26 and Taurus Mod 85 more.

So to answer the OP question I carry smaller guns as they are more convenient.

Convenience, but that means everything in the world. A .22lr on hand is worth more than the AR in the trunk of your car (not that you should roll like that anyway unless you're a cop). I don't like open carrying, even thought I'm LEO and can get away with it all the time if I like. I just prefer to keep it concealed, and a Kahr CW9 is as big as I will coneal. That's just that.

Convenience. I have four pistols I choose between for CC depending on the occasion, what I'm wearing, etc. They are, from smallest to largest: 1) NAA Guardian .32; 2) Sig 238 in .380; 3) Kahr PM9; 4) Colt Officer's model .45.

Both - I feel fine with one small reliable gun that is easy to carry convenient) and given my job and the people I'm around - very nervous around guns - it has to very much concealled (necessity).

Convenience- 2 inch barrel snub pocket carries better then a 4 inch barrel Model 10.

And really there is a bit of necessity to that too.

If you conceal carry, you don't alarm the people that are around you as they simply don't know you are carrying.

There's enough reasons to be nervous in the world today,I don't need to add to them.

Both my wife and I carry J-frame Smiths when we carry...for convenience mostly, lighter & smaller, etc., but with an adequate caliber..both will take +P .38 Special ammunition. Too, where we're carrying, we're not expecting the OK corral...ie. small town in KY, or road hiking here in N. KY...but on the trail near our cabin in the Smokies, she's still got the little piece, but I've got one of my .44 Special Rugers. Rod

I have to come down in the convenience camp. For me the weight of a gun means all. Anything between CCO size 45 and the J-frame work for me as long as they're lightweight.

Convenience and practicality.... I don't like to have to shape my wardrobe around a gun. When I feel the need to carry a larger firearm, I OC it discretely. But I dislike the weight.

Any gun is better than no gun

I carry daily a Keltec P3AT. It very concealable hides in a pocket, or on a belt clip inside the waistband in the small of my back. Two mags with Hydro Shocks. As the trainers say. If you have a gun that is comfortable for you to carry,. You will carry it always. Have a gun that gets uncomfortable during the day, you may start leaving it home.
Yes I have full size guns nearby also.
Home defense.... Glock17, 12 ga., Sub 2000.

What's the opinion on the Remora holsters?

I carry a 1911 because

1. The state I live in specifically licenses carrying a concealed pistol, rather than something larger.

2. The 1911 is smaller than a rifle and is, therefore, possible to conceal (so there is less likelihood of scaring folks).

I hope to stay out of situations where I would ever have to use it, because any pistol is kind of a "last resort" weapon.

Smaller for convenience? Not likely.
