Some people say no never, some say they have one out there right now. How about you? what is it? . I cant leave a gun in the car, to worried about rust, If the ammo will work. south fl- hot humid

I live in South Florida and a gun is probably less likely to rust or ruin ammo in the car, than on your body. I wouldn't leave a gun in there unattended for more than an hour. All it takes is a brick and about two seconds to break into a car. And having a loaded gun that easily accessible is asking for trouble.

If you can carry on your person all the time, then there is no need to risk theft by having a dedicated car gun. I would rather just have a few extra magazines in the car for my carry gun. If you have a job where you absolutely cannot carry inside, or some other similar situation, then a car gun would be OK in my opinion.

I don't have a dedicated car gun, but for those occasions when I have to leave a gun in the truck, I do have a locking console vault in my center console. Might not stop a pro, with cutting tools, but does deter any casual smash and grab.

Never liked the idea of leaving an unattended firearm in a car. Heck, I won't even put a decent aftermarket stereo in a car.

I know quite a few guys who

leave Ruger revolvers and so forth in their cars and trucks, I rarely drive my Mercedes anymore and I can't exactly leave a pistol on my Harley so mine is in a holster on my belt

I dont own a car, But I've kept a truck gun for years so I do believe in car guns. Never had problems with ammo in the truck carry it all the time. GO back & forth from n.GA to s.GA.

I personally don't believe in them, mainly because of where I live. I live in Albuquerque, N.M. and we have a real problem with gang bangers popping door locks and cleaning out vehicles in a matter of seconds. This is causing a real problem with arming the local bangers with stolen guns. I always carry concealed, so it stays with me at all times. Some folks I know have purchased cheaper pistols, such as High Point, telling me it's no big deal if they get stolen since they're so cheap. However, to me it's one more gun on the street that I may have to face one day, so no, I don't like car guns.

Yes, absolutely. It lives in my console 24x7. I can't carry at work and drive through a bad neighborhood to get back and forth. There are a lot of parts of my car worth far more than my $300 gun.

A gun stolen from a vehicle goes to arm another criminal, and will result in further crime.

The gun I left at home because I was afraid of arming another criminal (who has the means to get weapons by many many other methods) is not available to protect me or my loved ones.

When I was growing up, we had guns that were never removed from the pickup they were in. We also never locked the doors, heck, we did not even have keys for some of the doors (that was before the days of one key for doors and ignition). I also drove one of these pickups with no door key to high school from the time I got my license until I graduated and it was never a problem in the parking lot with the gun inside and the door unlocked. Try that now......

I don't believe cars will ever have guns.

Park a couple in a dark garage for a while and see what happens.

Weak attempt at humor.

No, I don't believe in dedicated car guns. Number one reason is lack of security. Possible rust due to temperature changes and condensation is a distant second.

I do occasionally leave a gun in the car for a short while when going inside a "sensitive" area like a school or courthouse where carry is not allowed.

No. Car guns are pure idiocy for people who don't know how holsters work.

I've got to respectfully disagree. I find a lot of utility in a truck gun. Even with a smaller pistol on my hip or in my pocket, I also keep another gun or two in the truck. Normally there is an extra handgun available, and generally a knock-around rifle under the back seat.

We've all heard horror stories about auto burglary, and that's a risk you take if you leave a firearm in a vehicle. I understand those risks. The guns I carry in the truck are not SD firearms, although they could be pressed into service if necessary, but I generally have one large-bore revolver available in addition to a lever rifle. On my person I have a personal protection firearm.

I lock my vehicle if I'm not in the front seat.

I was in line at Sportsman Warehouse on Friday waiting to pay for something and one of the guns in the back said that somebody just broke into his truck and took his 1911. He was ****** but he also admitted that is was his fault for leaving the gun in the vehicle.

Too many vehicles get broke into so why leave them a present?

No. Hell no.

A stereo stolen from a car is an annoyance. A gun stolen from a vehicle goes to arm another criminal, and will result in further crime. This provides an endless supply of ammunition to the Brady Campaign and their legion of imitators....and adds to the number of simple people who are easliy convinced that "guns are bad".

IMHO, sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. People who say, "Yeah, I leave a gun in my car, and if someone breaks in and steals it...damn criminals anyway" refuse to accept any responsibility for their actions.

Cities, businesses and even private individuals get sued for "attractive nuisance" (which I personally disagree with)...and it is only a matter of time before a gun owner is sued for providing an "attractive nuisance" to the criminal. Yes, sounds ludicrous, but a number of attorneys have absoultely no scruples and (aided by useful idiot jurors) find every method to extract monetary settlements, regardless of the fact that there is no merit to the case.

Mark my words. It's a matter of time. And once the first jury finds in favor of the victim of a criminal who "found" his gun in your car...the floodgates will open.

I don't have a dedicated truck gun but I'm not worried about leaving one in the in heat or cold on occasion if I can't carry it.

I don't leave a gun in the car ever; it rides with me when I have it, which is always. If I were to be of a mind to have a car gun, I would hard mount either a finger combo or electric release safe under a seat. If electric, remember to have it tied into a wire/fuse that is cold when the ignition is not on, and hide the switch well.

the gun does not do my car any good when I am not there. My car is unable to protect its self with a gun. I keep my gun with me and when I am in the car the gun is still with me. It also prevents theft if my car is ever broke in to.
