Do people you know hate when you carry?

Constantine

Do people you know hate when you carry?

People I know fall into three categories: family, friends, and acquaintances.

All family and friends are happy that I carry a weapon. Acquaintances do not know.

So, people I know do not hate when I carry a weapon.

My roomates know that I carry, and they see me with my guns around the house (when I'm cleaning them, etc).

In my family, only my brother knows that I carry. I will not tell the rest of them that I do unless the situation arises. My girl doesn't know yet but I have a feeling she will find out soon enough...

Constantine, sounds like you have some problems there:

Quote:
my girlfriend gets all weirded out when I take my gun out of the glovebox to go inside her house

She may never like the fact that you carry or even own a gun, how do you handle that?

Quote:
"if I go somewhere I may need it I just won't go there"

Some actually feel this way, I sure do, there are many places in town that the criminal element likes to hang out. These places I wont go even with a gun. Why take a unnessasary chance?

Anyways, any of you know about these people?

Not one, as I said my friends and family all own guns, many are CCW people, a few are police, one retired AF and Secret service.

So how do you hold up with all this resentment and hatred towards your personal protection?

and whats with the assume stuff? You posted this stuff in the first post?

Did you expect every reply to agree? In life. You will find more that disagree than agree. Tis life.

Good luck with all them haters you hang around with.......

You follow me into every thread and poke me with a stick...

Do you have a crush on me that I should know about? :D

"...my girlfriend gets all weirded out when I take my gun out of the glovebox to go inside her house..." [Constantine]

What would she do if there was a perp in the house, her father wrapped up in duct tape, and the criminal waiting inside to jump her? Its happened. Coming home is sometimes more dangerous than going out.

I carry 24/7, never tell a soul, was made only once, coming into a popular coffee shop when a gust of wind blew open my jacket to reveal my gun, two elderly people closest to me, both smiled and one opened the door for me as we all entered the shop. No words spoken, just smiles, like they knew I was family.

On the rare occassion a liberal friend (most are) learns of my passion for guns, they don't criticize, they just accept it, sort of the way you treat a smoke alarm, no big deal.

When I inform a cop, (in Michigan you MUST inform if approached by a police officer) they are very friendly and treat me like a $1,000 dollar bill.

My wife says its because I have an authoritative, charming, trustworthy appearance.

Don't know, maybe shes right.

My live in future wife on occasion will state why are you taking your gun, we are just going to the grocery store or something, I respond that I am leaving the house and there for carrying.

The other day I went to northern VA, and was wearing one of my shoulder holsters since I was wearing a coat, after sever hours when I got home, I inquired if we were going out to dinner, I was advised yes going to one of the local pizza shops, and before I could say anything, Courtnei stated why don't I carry the one that will go in the back of my pants under my shirt (an inside the waist band holster); I advised her I was in the process of doing just that. Courtnei is not thrilled that I carry, but she accepts it. Since I have met her, Courtnei now has gotten her carry conceal permit, but has not started to carry a gun yet. She does like the Walther P22 I bought for her.:D

yeah my wife has her CCW but doesn't carry yet either. I bought her a derringer for size but she likes the S&W 649 I originally got for her better. That's how I found out she likes that gun.

My wife used to hate that I carry. She would put her arm around me, and if she felt the gun, she would recoil away. Then one day we were approached by some unsavory people and she put her arm around me to make sure I had it. She has never complained since.

My Priest kind of got a little weirded out that I carry (I don't in Church because of the Virginia's strange laws) but he's gotten over it.

Although I have noticed I receive less "Hail Mary's and "Our Fathers" at Confession since he found that I carry.

Just kidding:D
He's OK with it

You follow me into every thread and poke me with a stick...

I just asked a question since you posted wierd stuff in reply to my post.

I dont follow you, you are in every thread. :) I dont post in every thread, just the ones thatrelate to me and my exp. Sorry I asked you questions in a thread you started. Like I said, newbies show it off, to everyone as if to say, "look at me I have a gun". I see it every day. When I picked up the new permit, 34 others were in line. I bet if Iran into one of them I could tell what side they were carrying on. :) touchy feely cant keep hands off the thing....

Too funny.

This is true...lol

Speaking of this!

Today, March 15, 2011 marks the day Mark! In Florida, where they hit the courts for the "open carry" law.

To which I hope does not pass. But in a way more rights for us the better for us too. Still though....ugh.

I never met anyone who hated it but then I don't advertise it either. Sometimes I hike with friends whose views on guns is probably very different than mine, but they can't argue with what they never see.

When I carry, I avoid letting anybody else know, except my wife who likes guns. I've always lived in deep South or Southwest rural areas and have met very few gun haters. People raised without gun prescence are easily swayed by negative viewpoints. I do know many gun enthusiasts who choose not to carry. They don't see a need.

My Priest kind of got a little weirded out that I carry

My Minister carries, during servides too. He shoots straight and hits the target. His Dad ret LEO was happy he went into religion.

Good going in FLA. we all want the same thing.

My wife doesn't think twice about me carrying. I think she even likes it in spite of her negative experiences in the past with guns. She would never have carried one herself I dont think. But then, I found a YouTube video of an attractive trendy mother who was showing how she carries. I think it dawned on her that it's not a boys only club.
All my real friends don't think twice about it. I keep my gun views quiet at work as I work in education and there are a lot of liberal anti gun people in education (my own feelings, no proof to support it).

I don't carry concealed yet but my husband does and has for over a year now. It actually freaks me out when he's NOT carrying.
