concealed carry is a pain!

I carried an H&K USP Compact 9mm for 6 years almost daily on a regular belt in a slide-on belt holster. I think it was a Safariland, and it had a slight cant to it.

I barely even thought about it being there.

Part of the major difference: that's a much smaller gun than a full size 1911.

Who made the comment that only quit over weight people are the only ones that can carry a OWB full size and conceal. Athletic built people can't What!
What a load of BS.
I am very athletic because of my training in the fine arts of combat and I carry full size OWB all the time with Jeans/shorts in warm weather a T's. :D

Many times people find it hard to carry because they are trying to carry too large of a firearm. I have many friends that disagree with me on carrying a 9mm and even a .380 at times. My response is always the same. Any weapon on you is better than your full size 45 at home. My favorite weapon is my Springfield 5" black stainless 1911. However for comfort and concealability reasons I do not carry it. Shot placement should be priority number one!

CCW Pain??

Bianchi makes some very nice and soft suede IWB holsters that are a dream to wear. The only downside is re-holstering after drawing, you may have to remove the holster to get the gun back in. I have one for my Colt Det Spcl, and G26. When I carry a bigger gun it is on the belt FBI style under a jacket. With the acceptable shirt tail out now dress, all 3 are very easy to conceal almost regardless of body type.

I agree with Maromero (post 56). I use a fanny pack. I find concealed carry to be an incredible PIA. I finally settled on the S&W 351PD AirLite revolver in .22 magnum. It is incredibly light and not bulky.

Because of some surgeries IWB carry is out for me, and I do not like having to conceal a belt holster. So I carry in a jacket pocket during cooler/cold months and fanny pack it in the summer.

My other carry gun is a Beretta .22 loaded with Stingers.

I may take a Model 10 along in the car depending upon where I am going.

I tried many different holsters, in every price range from very costly to very cheap, and settled for a Uncle Mike's IWB ($15 bucks). I sometimes forget that I am carrying.

And much larger than a 3 inch 1911. That's what replaced my HK USP compact on the same type of rig. Seems as though we all eventually migrate to smaller, no matter the carry mode. It's what makes concealed carry not so much a PITA.

I like a shoulder rig if I'm driving a lot, easy access while sitting. There are a number of different ways I carry my G-23, but at 6'...215lbs. the IWB is uncomfortable for me at times. So I have the fanny pac, paddle style, shoulder rig, and a pocket holster. Depends on what your wearing and doing..

I just got a Crossbreed Supertuck holster for my G19.

Once I got it properly adjusted, it conceals and feels great. It has several holes for adjusting the clips up and down, and I put the front all the way down so the back corner of the slide doesn't show, then jacked the rear up two notches so the butt is high enough not to show and to allow for a good grip to draw. The cant angle on that setup is a bit steep, but a few minutes of draw practice makes that a non issue. Worn at three o'clock, it rides and hides great all day.

I own and conceal carry standard size Glocks daily (G17, G22, G21SF) using outside the pant holsters with no problems and I'm 6' / 190, so I think it's just a matter of trying many things - you'll find the right combination. I'm as picky as they come and I did! I own a couple of Galco holsters and I like them all. I also use a Fobus that is one of my favorites. Like others have said also, a good belt means everything. Good luck and be safe!

got mine in a while ago. I use it both ways. Mostly IWB though. Driving on it is nice, it conceals great, and is hella comfy

I just skimmed so sorry if its all a repost

But I will second a good holster and belt. I have using a a Black hawk leather IWB and a Fillson double layer Bridle leather belt and after a little while I nearly forget my P220 full size is there. Well I know its there you can still feel it but it makes things so much more comfortable that I can wear it for 14 hours and not be bothered by it one bit.

I really don't think its that much of a pain for me. But I went through a few handguns before getting comfortable with a couple. Summer carry is a SW 642 with +p ammo and winter carry is mainly a colt 1911 Defender. Summer carry is with IWB, and winter carry is coat pocket.

Concealed carry with a "serious size" handgun can be very aggravating. All such carry involves compromises and different degrees of discomfort.

I have a semicustom full size 1911 with a clip draw attachment that I can conceal reasonably well with a dark tee shirt and jeans(white or lighter colored shirts tend to show bulges more) but I don't carry it due to the weight and reliabilty issues with anything except ball ammo. Thus the big gun goes by the wayside and a glock in IWB holster wins by default. It "prints" far more than the clipdraw 1911 but is more reliable with factory "stopping ammo" and has far more firepower.

The only way I can reduce the printing of the IWB Glock further is with a clipdraw attachment but then you are best off with an empty chamber for safety issues!! Decisions--Fun Fun Fun!!

Concealed carry is indeed a thoughtful art--Be sure your choices work cause you are betting your life on them!!

ive never carried before but will be soon.... i was told not to waste time on web holsters... am awaiting pickup tomorrow morn for a replica of the double new york carry style that was on the movie FACEOFF.... also had two double clip holsters and a belt made to carry them all on.... will post pics if anyone would be interested.....fyi the guy makes leather holsters on the side of his full time job... ive heard he is very good....and priced reasonable.
