concealed carry is a pain!

After you have carried for many years, you will realize the meth crazed, 300 lb. zombie biker is really not after you at all-and that a small, comfortable gun is all that is necessary.

one of them being spinal fusion

Ain't those grand? (T11-L2 here)

Mine left me mostly pain free and with only minor limitations to my range of motion. It did leave me with a spot of mild numbness across my lower back where my belt lands. This actually makes IWB carry easier....

Trying to get use to my smart carry.....not too bad with the right pants/ shorts.

Found another way to wear it if you dont want your hardware right over your...ummm..."hardware".......try it above the waist at about 3-4 o'clock under the armpit. So basically it can be used as a shoulder/bellyband holster also. Use the barrel tip to support on the pants/belt for more comfort.

I carry a Hi-Power fairly regularly thanks to a good holster and a variety of suitable belts, but there's nothing wrong with a small handgun in a pocket.

I like the Seecamp, but never had any problems with my P32.

I am 5'8" 165 lbs. and have carried a full size 45 acp for years with no problems. Good belt and good holster loose fitting shirt out the door we go.

Kel-Tec or Ruger LCP 380 for pocket carry (in a holster).

I'm 6'1 about 190# and I can easily conceal a Kahr PM9/40 or a Glock 26/27 under a loose untucked shirt with Kydex clip on holster; those pistols can be worn for hours with proper holster.

Pistol any taller in height than about 4.1'' (Glock 26/27) and I start to have issues with printing unless I wear more than just a shirt.

Revlover? S&W J frame .38 with Barami Hip Grip is very easy to hide & carry.

I just carry a small .25 pocket pistol. A pack of smokes in the pocket makes it disappear.

When headed into worse areas, like Miami, I use a custom made canvas holster for my 9mm. It fits well into that area where your leg meets your torso and is quite concealable in shorts and a T-shirt.

With an IWB holster; in the small of my back; I can carry either my Sig P220 45acp; or my 32 acp; both equally as comfortable. Unless it's summer time and I can't wear it in the small of my back; then I simply use the 32acp in my front pocket. It's not a pain for me.

Concealed carry can be a PITA, it sometimes is for me, but I keep reminding myself of the reasons I carry. Sounds like you do need a smaller gun. I used to carry full size 1911s and Beretta 92s, but discovered that the Glock 19 is the best combination of firepower and ability to conceal. A good belt and good bolster make all the difference. The smallest gun I personally carry is a S&W 642. Those .380 mouse guns feel like toys to me. Not only do I carry a G19 loaded with 16 rounds, I also have two spare magazines carried on my left side in a DeSantis double mag pouch.

Part of what it comes down to is your normal "average" daily wardrobe.

It is still snowing at the moment; Happy snowy Easter, with snow still all around my house from the Winter. Needless to say, not too many just t-shirt and shorts days around here. I can CC any gun that I own just about any day of the year.

A good holster and belt can really make all of the difference. I use a Simply Rugged for my Colt 1911s. Beats the daylights out of my last Bianchi for the same size guns. After using Bianchi and Galco, then switching to Simply Rugged, it is almost like it is not there.

Like many here, I too have a holster drawer with many lightly used holsters. I don't see any Simply Ruggeds in that drawer.

Handmade in Alaska, not the prettiest (but with a certain "simplistic" appeal) but the most comfortable that I have tried.

Seems like most are saying a good belt will help,I'll give that a try first.
A smaller gun is not economically feasible right now ,without trading, and I don't want to give up any that I have.
I do have a Davis derringer, but it is about as reliable as a mud pie, so,thanks for all the input. I'll get a good stiff belt first and try a few more holsters. Thanks, Mike

If you want to carry a service size pistol, consider getting a plastic fantastic pistol. A Glock 19 is ~20 ounces empty. Even fully loaded it weighs much less then a 1911. Glock, XD, Ruger S&W M&P to name a few are much more all day carry friendly.

+1 chris in va ... I use a number of paddle holsters and belt holsters to carry various weapons, but my overwhelming choice, especially when it gets hot here in Texas -- which is always -- is pocket carrying a Kahr PM-9 ... get a good holster like a DeSantis or Mika and the gun just disappears, you won't even know it's there until you need it ... and you can keep your hand on it without anybody knowing ... big fan of pocket carry

A combination of clothes, holster and belt make it possible to conceal almost any handgun.

I am 6 and 180 pounds. I carry a Sig 226 and two double stack mags everyday, concealed. I have a quality leather weapons belt and a VMII holster.

It is heavy but I carry the weapon I am most comfortable with.

Your situation is something I was concerned with when I started shopping for my EDC. I know some people think comfort isn't a major concern, but IMO, if it isn't comfortable, I won't do it everyday........thus defeating the purpose of CC. I've owned a Ruger P89 for years, and while some may be able to conceal carry one, I just don't see it happening. It's a brick.

I purchased a Kahr PM9 with a FIST Tuckable/IWB holster, as well as a FIST Pocket Holster. It will fit in a cargo short pocket, or even a front pocket in my case. Everyone has their own idea of what is important. Some are willing to exchange comfort for increased firepower or increased capacity. To each their own. Might I say if what you have isn't working out for you, try something different.

Someone mentioned earlier that sometimes they just carry their LCP. As mentioned on this site before, an LCP in the hand is better than hi-capacity .45 in the safe/car/bedside table/etc.

I've found that the best carry method for me was OWB (Don Hume JIT slide) with shirt over. It was a real pain as I've worn my shirts tucked in for probably 30 years and had to get used to wearing them out. I remember when I bought the HKUSP45C for my new CCW. That lasted less than a year. I've heard so many say, "When I get my CPL, I'm going to carry a full-sized 1911." Probably a dozen people have told me this and I can count on one finger those that still carry that full-size, years later. I also carry a 1911, but it's a 3 inch model. Far easier than my old HK, and far more accurate to boot. The KT P32 goes in a pocket and provides at least a modicum of a sense of safety when the primary is not available for whatever reason. As was said, a purely personal decision that will be usually found at great expense and vast experimentation.

I used to carry IWB, but after gaining a few pounds the gun started to dig into my waist.

I switched to a Lou Alessi ankle rig. Its great for my Kahr MK9.

Just practice your draw a lot, or you will never get it out when you need it, both sitting and standing.
